Yuvonnie and Roger’s tropical engagement session in Miami, Florida was a blast.
Yuvonnie and Roger’s offices were only a few blocks away from each other but it wasn’t until Roger had to mail a package that he then met the woman that he would fall in love with. Roger met Yuvonnie at the United Postal Service where she worked and it was love at first sight. “I’ve always thought love at first sight was just a myth. I thought it was something people made up until I saw Yuvonnie. From the very first second, I laid eyes on her I knew she was going to be my wife.”
After Roger gave Yuvonnie his number and a text exchange that night, she knew he was going to be her forever match. “He’s my soulmate and I thank God every day for him.”
The couple held their engagement shoot at the Secret Gardens of Miami which is a lush outdoor event venue filled with an abundance of tropical foliage, waterfalls, and ponds.

How did you meet?
BRIDES RESPONSE: Roger is my best friend. He is charming, reliable, patient, funny and kind in one big attractive manly package. I first met Roger while working for the United States Postal Service. He would visit often being that his office was a few blocks away. He would always visit but hardly ever spoke. One day, mid December of the year 2017 that changed. We spoke while I was assisting him with mailing a package and in result he left his number with me. At the end of the night I would always clean my station and throw away any unnecessary garbage, I was in the process of throwing Roger’s number out but for some reason I threw it in my purse instead. Days went by before I finally decided to text him. That was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life. We texted for hours and eventually it turned into a phone call, it was almost like we knew each other for some time the way our conversation flowed so effortlessly. We connected instantly while being on the phone each night, we learned that we shared common interest and that we are a like in a lot of ways. Ever since then it’s almost as if we are inseparable. We enjoy each other’s company even if it’s just staying in to watch tv. They always say nobody’s perfect, but I believe God sent the perfect man for me. We’ve been together for four years and I wish I had met him sooner so I could love him longer. He’s my soulmate and I thank God every day for him.
GROOM’s RESPONSE: I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at work and I let the day get away from me. I forgot I needed to go to the post office to mail a package. I then proceeded to the post office and once I arrived the line was long as usual. I waited in line for about 15 minutes. I then reached the front of the line and that’s when I saw her. The most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on. Once I reached the register, I was so nervous that it was hard for me to even get a word out. I then mailed my package and left the post office. On my way back to work I thought about Yuvonnie every step of the way. Once I arrived at my office, I immediately told my co-worker that I saw a woman at the post office that was beautiful. However, at that point it never crossed my mind that I would see her again or get the opportunity to talk to her. For the next few weeks, I could not seem to get Yuvonnie off my mind. A month later I had to go back to the post office to mail another package. Once I reached the front of the line Yuvonnie was there to greet me. I had to mail a “Amazon Firestick” and I needed a small padded envelope to purchase. I asked Yuvonnie for a small padded envelope. She told me that the Amazon Firestick box was too big for the envelope I was trying to purchase. This is when things got serious. I had to think quick on my feet. I explained to her that if the Amazon Firestick fit in the envelope, she had to take me to lunch, and if the Amazon Firestick didn’t fit in the box I would take her to lunch. She quickly smirked and accepted the challenge. I then went to the back window to address the envelope. Little did she know I stuffed the Amazon Firestick in the envelope as much as I possible could. The box was going to fit that day! I proceeded to go back to the window where I quickly put the envelope on the counter. She saw the envelope and she immediately began to roll her eyes. I know I had her then. I proceeded to ask her for a piece of paper, and I wrote my name and phone number on the piece of paper and I slid it back to her. Once I walked out the post office I felt as if I just spoke to an angel. After I gave Yuvonnie my phone number I never expected to hear from her. I honestly forgot I gave her my number. A month later I was at home laying in the bed. I have just finished talking to my dad wishing him a happy birthday when I received a text message. It was from a number I did not recognize. I responded to the text message and politely asked who it was? Yuvonnie identified herself and that night we text for about 3 hours. From that day on we have been together ever since. I’ve always thought love at first sight was just a myth. I thought it was something people made up until I saw Yuvonnie. From the very first second, I laid eyes on her I knew she was going to be my wife. I thought it was just a feeling at the time, but little did I know it was God blessing me with my “Soulmate.”
What did you do on your first date?
We always “argue” about when was our actual first date. During the time Roger was getting to know me, he would usually leave his job and come to mine to take me out for lunch during my lunch breaks and we would have lunch and several interesting conversations at a local pizzeria by my job. That would be our first date if you asked me. If you were to ask Roger he would tell you the story about when we actually got dressed outside of our work uniform, he came to my house and I took forever to come out my house because according to him I’m always late. But when I did come out he had bowling and lunch planned for us. The most interesting thing about that date was I saw Roger’s gentleman side. Roger opened doors, whether it was car doors or the doors to the restaurant, he would help me with my shoes when we were at bowling and he walked me to my door when he took me back home. At first I thought it was a first date thing and him trying to impress be but here we are almost 4 years later and Roger is still the same gentleman that he introduced to me on our first date.
Tell us your proposal story!
On March 11th, 2018, Yuvonnie and myself visited her families church in Brooklyn, New York. It was at this church service where I knew God was speaking to me and he told me “Yuvonnie was the one for me.” After Service was over Yuvonnie and I drove home, and I distinctly remember I had so many thoughts running through my head. I knew that I wanted to propose to Yuvonnie, but I did not know how I was going to go about it. I probably said 3 words the entire ride home. Over the next 7 months there was a lot of vigorous planning on my part. I honestly underestimated how much planning went into a surprise party. The day before her surprise birthday party I surprised her with balloons at 12:01 midnight before she went to work. I also made a few calls to her boss and he kindly let her off work for the day. Later that evening Yuvonnie was getting dressed at home where she thought she was going to a “Navy Ball.” Once Yuvonnie was dressed I had a car service pick her up from her house. She still had no clue. At 7 p.m. Yuvonnie arrived in Manhattan and she was totally surprised once she arrived. As the evening wore on, I grew increasingly nervous. There were only 2 people at the party who knew I was going to propose, myself and Yuvonnie’s mother. Once the evening started to wear down it was time to get on one knee and ask my queen to marry me. For 7 months prior I had a speech planned out, however I forget every word as I began to profess my love to Yuvonnie in front of our family and friends. At approximately 10:30 p.m. I asked Yuvonnie for her hand in marriage and in a barrage of tears of joy she accepted.
