Quick Facts
- Favorite item on menu: My favorite item on my menu was the curry chicken!
- Bridesmaids/groomsmen gifts: One of my favorite things in life is a good spa day/night, and I believe every woman deserves to treat themselves. I gifted my girls with custom makeup bags filled with spa day items to pamper themselves.
- First dance song: Our first dance song was “When I First Saw You” by artist Jamie Fox ft Beyoncé.
- Advice for brides: My advice for future brides is to be in your moment. If you have a personality like me where you worry about everyone else being comfortable and if everyone else is okay, it may be hard for you to just sit back and be the bride. This is your time to be celebrated and loved on. Sit back and try your hardest to relax, queen! You deserve all the magic that’s about to transpire.
Tell us how you met and all about the proposal
My husband and I are college sweethearts. We met on the campus of Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville AL. We locked eyes while he was on the football field and the rest was history. Our proposal was so perfect. I always thought I would know when TJ would propose, but I never had a clue! He proposed on our dating anniversary, and because we always do something nice on that day, I thought we were on our way out for our normal celebration. My husband planned it so perfectly. He made sure all the people that meant the most to me were in the room. The best part was seeing my great-grandmother’s face when I walked into the room! She hates to fly and he got her to come all the way from New Jersey for me. It was a perfect fairytale evening filled with so much love.
How did you know they were “the one”?
We knew we were the one for each other because we reciprocated solidarity. It’s rare to get “you” out of someone else in all the best possible ways, and We found that in each other. I couldn’t imagine life without him, we make the best dream team. Not only is he my partner in love, but God blessed our businesses to complement each other seamlessly. I am a Georgia and Alabama-based Doctor of Chiropractic, and Owner of a mobile wellness practice called Chiroasis LLC. My Husband TJ is what I like to call the DB Doctor! He is the Owner and Head defensive back specialist at The Ball Hawk Factory LLC. Not many couples can work together, but we both not only love our own careers, but we love each other’s just as much!
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
One of our favorite genres of music is Reggae/dance hall, so we definitely made sure to have a whole reggae music tribute dedicated to all of my Caribbean family and friends that came to the wedding.
Describe your wedding style
Our wedding style was what we would consider enchanted garden romance. My venue had very beautiful gardens and greenery on the grounds which inspired my vision.
Describe your wedding dress and your favorite accessory
My wedding dress was an ivory mermaid-style gown, with a beaded bodice, sweetheart neckline, and a beautiful ruffle train. It was everything I could imagine and more! I worked with the amazing team at TK Bridal in Atlanta, GA. They executed my vision beautifully. As far as my favorite accessory I actually had two, one was my Hair done by Ge-ah Smith from @glamher.bygeah on IG. The next favorite was my shoes done by Renae Mccullom @Renaenaaae. My hair and shoes hold a special part in my heart because not only are both of these talented ladies my best friends, but they were also both in my bridal party. Not everyone gets to share moments like that with their loved ones, and I will forever hold those memories near and dear to my heart.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
My best wedding day memory was our Bride and Groom reception entrance! The song Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill is one of my absolute favorite songs ever. I play that song when I’m doing anything major in my life, so without a doubt, I had to play it when I became a Wifey! I had no clue that being my normal self would go viral on the internet and be claimed as the wedding mood of the year. To top it all off we were reposted by Meek Mill himself. Definitely a great memory.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
The best advice we would give is to not stress about the things that may go wrong on your wedding day. In the end, it’s all about you and your brand new spouse having the time of your lives. It goes by quickly! So no matter what’s going on, try to keep the focus on the two of you being in wedding bliss and having fun.
