In an interview with Miss Virginia For America, Heather Marie Van Cleave, the Creative Director and Founder of her eponymous brand, Travian Vann, revealed: “I stumbled into sewing.”
The celebrity designer’s beautiful bespoke gowns are created solely in-house at her flagship production studio in Hampton, Virginia. Her designs have been on stars such as Erica Campbell, Iyanla Vanzant, and Jazmine Sullivan, as well as other high profile clientele.
Vann’s ethos mirrors that of many in the industry as it pertains to women of color. She shares, “Being a curvy woman myself, I understand how difficult it is at times to find the perfect garment to fit just right or to find the perfect lining to match my skin tone.”
As part of her design process, after a consultation the client’s vision is transformed into a one-of-a-kind illustration. Not only does the brand provide bespoke wedding gowns but also assists with wedding day styling. They create custom mother of the bride, engagement, bridal shower, wedding and reception looks.
Amsale
As one of the most prestigious bridal ateliers in the world founded by the late Amsale Amberra, and now led by head designer Michael Cho, the atelier’s team offers brides an unparalleled shopping experience.
The upscale New York salon features quiet, elegant decor which allows the gowns to speak for themselves. The brand also offers a unique retail partner program. The program features an app that lets other bridal boutiques track if their clients are interested in an Amsale gowns.
