How they met…
Renaldo and I met on February 5, 2002, in Boston, Massachusetts, at Wendy’s in Downtown Crossing. Both Renaldo and I decided to skip school that day to attend the Patriot’s Superbowl Championship Parade along with friends.
While in line, getting ready to order food, my friends and I noticed a loud group in front of us. One of the guys from the group started to make fun of me and my eyeglasses. He was speaking in Creole, not knowing I understood every word he said.
That fellow was Renaldo. I replied to him in Creole, and I saw the instant embarrassment in his facial expression. My friends and I made our way to a table to sit down and have our lunch. Renaldo approached our area and sat at a nearby table to eat his lunch. During this lunch interaction, we formally introduced ourselves and exchanged numbers before departing. After several phone conversations, we agreed to hang out. We started off as friends. We would always hang out with a group of friends dining at restaurants, going to the movie theaters, and attending parties. Our actual first date was on Valentine’s Day 2003.
The proposal…
It was December 21, 2019, at 5:00 AM, when Renaldo asked me the question of a lifetime. We traveled to New York to visit his grandmother. During the drive, Renaldo appeared to be stressed. I questioned his behavior, but of course, he denied that anything was going on. We arrived at our destination, checked into the hotel, ordered take-out from Junior’s Restaurant, and then called it a night. I woke up at 5:00 AM to find Renaldo pacing in the dark. I approached him to comfort him. It was then he showed me the ring box. I was caught off guard by this. In fact, I couldn’t stop laughing. I confirmed if he was serious at that moment. He looked up at me and asked, “Will you marry me, Tatiana Bruno?” I choked up and whispered, “Yes!”
We see you king…
How was your wedding shopping experience…
Shopping for a wedding dress during a pandemic was a bit challenging for me. The experience was not what I ever expected. My attitude towards dress shopping was to be as simple as possible. I wanted to avoid complicating things during a time of uncertainty. I went on the Kleinfeld Bridal website to browse through their fabulous dress options and then went on to schedule a consultation for Saturday, October 24, 2020, along with my mother and sister.
After trying on three dresses, I said yes to the dress after trying on the fourth option. The dress was a beautiful, ivory, lace, trumpet styled gown. At the time, I was happy with my dress choice. Months later, in March 2021, I realized that I was not in love with my dress. I had just settled for a dress due to the uncertainties during a pandemic. It clicked to me that I was getting married in a castle and needed to dress the regal theme.
The search was on…
After a broad research on Instagram, I discovered Sena Masoud Bridal in Ridgefield, New Jersey. I booked a consultation appointment for the following month. At my appointment, I was amazed at the beautiful gown options. I was confident that I was in the right place. I was nervous about the short time frame leading up to the wedding. Sena was very understanding and empathetic towards my feelings. She reassured me that she could have my gown made in time for my wedding. Her goal was to design a dress suitable for my body type and for my wedding theme.
After collecting a few details of my wedding, she had me try on a beautiful gown. This was my first time in such a marvelous gown. I felt at ease admiring how beautiful the lace and beaded details at the train of the dress. I felt the sudden urge to twirl around. Not only that, but I felt so beautiful, and I knew my groom would approve. This was my dress. I said yes to this dress. This moment was so surreal. I will forever cherish the bridal experience at Sena Masoud Bridal.
The reception…
Wedding memories…
My best memory from our wedding was witnessing my groom become emotional during the reception room reveal. That moment is forever lasting in my memory because the emotion was full of joy. It was truly a magical feeling.
Wedding advice for engaged couples…
The best advice that I could give to engaged couples is to maintain healthy communication. Good communication is an important part of your relationship and is an essential part of a healthy partnership. All relationships have ups and downs. A healthy communication style can make it easier to deal with conflict and build a stronger and healthier partnership.
