Featured in MunaLuchi Bridal magazine, Issue No. 26, this multicultural mix of Indian and American cultures was celebrated during the couple’s gorgeous oceanside destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico.
“Wouldn’t it be great if you were my sister-in-law?”
Jasmine and Divayesh’s meeting was a total made for tv moment when his sister, who was the bride-to-be, posed that question to Jasmine who was serving as one of her bridesmaids.
Three years later on Valentine’s Day, the happy couple said their I’Do’s in front of their friends and family at the breathtaking El Dorado Royale at the Generations Resorts in Riviera Maya captured by Ptaufiq Photography.
The couple’s gorgeous fusion wedding mixed glam Valentine’s Day vibes with their traditional American and Indian heritages. They incorporated a traditional Indian (Hindu) wedding with Gujarati traditions and also a traditional American (Christian) wedding with Jasmine’s father serving as their officiant. Seeing their destination wedding in Cancun with beautiful oceanside landscapes, white sand, and palm trees, definitely has us ready to pack up for our very own romantic resort getaway in Mexico!

How they met…
We met in 2017 at his sister’s and my friend’s wedding. Yes, you read that correctly. The bride herself was responsible for our union. Divayesh’s sister, Divya, was my college classmate and friend. I was a bridesmaid at Divya’s wedding. Divya’s family welcomed me with open arms and at that moment a spark hit Divya’s mind. She came up to me at her reception and suggested to me “Wouldn’t it be great if you were my sister-in-law?” After a few selections of words, toasting to love, drinks, chemistry…a love connection was made between Divayesh and I.
How did you know they were the one?
When life was better with them but not the same without them.
How he proposed…
Three years later, Divayesh popped the question! He proposed at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens on New Year’s Day in 2021. I was so surprised. It was the perfect timing during the Garden Lights show, a day I would never forget!
Celebrating cultures…
We wanted a great fusion wedding. We didn’t want one to overpower the other. So we did two separate weddings to honor each tradition accordingly. We did a tradition Indian (Hindu) wedding with Gujarati traditions and we also did a traditional American (Christian) wedding as well.
Wedding style…
For the American wedding, since it fell on Valentine’s Day, we wanted all the “Love is in the air” vibes, with roses and all shades of red and burgundy. It came out perfectly! For the Indian wedding, we wanted a royal look. Traditionally the bride wears red, so we decided to both wear red, it tied in well with the American wedding and the Valentine’s Day theme. We had the bridal party and our family wear peach and sage to brighten up the beach location. It came out beautifully!
Wedding dress & accessories…
Both of my dresses were love at first sight. My American dress was everything I wanted with the silhouette and the beading. I’m a petite woman, other dresses I tried were so overpowering, but this dress was perfect! Gave me all the happy feels. And my Indian dress…the bling factor was crazy on this dress. Pictures didn’t do this dress justice, it was absolutely beautiful! I loved that I went with the traditional red color but changed it up a bit with the silver accents. Most Indian metallic accents are in gold. My favorite accessory was my Mehndi (Henna). I’m not sure if you could consider it an accessory since it was painted on me, but I loved that it went well with both weddings. The design looked amazing with the American dress, it mimicked the beading.
Wedding memories…
The best memory from the wedding was our 1st first look. Since we had two weddings, we did two first looks. The Indian wedding came first and our photographer made that moment so special and hyped us up for the big reveal. We both cried happy tears.
Wedding advice…
To actually live in the moment. Every part of your big day goes so fast, you did so much planning, and spent so much money; enjoy all that hard work you put into your special day. You won’t regret it. Get a day of coordinator or a planner (if it’s in your budget) so you can actually enjoy your day.
