See the beautiful details below!
- Couple: Jasmine & John
- Wedding Location: Raleigh, NC, US
- Wedding Date: Mar 05, 2022
How they met…
We met through an art class Jasmine was hosting online. John decided he would join because Jamal, Jasmine’s brother, had shared the event and John was interested. He and Jamal had known each other for years through school. John reached out about the art class and the conversation grew into a relationship.
The proposal…
About 7 months later John proposed by visiting Jasmine in Atlanta since he was living in Maryland at the time and created her dream date by decorating the back of a Jeep with fairy lights, pillows, and blankets so that they could have a backseat picnic. He made it a perfect night and ended it with getting on one knee.
Wedding inspiration & theme…
Our wedding was perfect! We could not have expected anything better. We were surrounded by family and close friends who showered us with love. The main inspiration we had for our day was to be able to share this special moment with family. We kept our theme simple with a modern rustic look utilizing greenery and complimenting the venue with colors of burgundy and champagne. We wanted this day to be focused on love between us and our family.
Wedding style, attire, & shopping experience…
We both chose our own look. We agreed on the colors and found our own style from there. Jasmine found her dress at a small shop in Atlanta. She knew she wanted an A line dress with some lace. John found his suit at a shop in Atlanta as well. He wanted something with texture and there was a custom suit in the back that fit his style perfectly. From there, Jasmine kept it simple while John kept it fashionable. John even got all the guys shoes that matched his suit.
Floral details…
Overall, the florals were not that big for our wedding. We decided on simple greenery, incorporating it on the fire mantle and the centerpieces. Other than that, the bouquets and boutonnieres were DIY and stayed on theme with greenery with a hint of white.
Decor & DIY details…
For both the ceremony and reception we wanted to have it around the beautiful fireplace within The Maxwell. The ceremony utilized a green and white flower arrangement on the fire mantle with candles while down the aisle we had white rose petals and lanterns. The reception continued to incorporate the candles and greenery throughout the tables. Again, the main goal was to keep it simple. We had some DIY which were the table numbers, the cocktail table “fun facts”, the bouquets and boutonnieres, and the table assignments mirror.
The ceremony…
Most special wedding day moment…
The most anticipated moment was that final “I Do”. We had been dreaming of this day and it was finally here!
Personalized details, entertainment, & favorite moments…
We did personalize it by having a dessert table instead of a cake since neither of us cared for cake. It also happened to be our DJs birthday and he was a close friend so we did have a moment where we were able to sing happy birthday to him.
The whole day was amazing but if we had to pick some favorite parts they would be the vows during the ceremony, John’s backflip during the reception, and just seeing family and friends that we haven’t had the chance to see in a while.
Advice for other engaged couples…
If we could give any advice, it would be to remember why you’re getting married. This is a big decision and commitment. Sometimes it can be fogged by all the glitz and glamor so stay focused on the “why”.
