Beach waves and white sand welcomed guests to Alexis and Ronnie’s summer outdoor destination wedding in Mexico!
While out at one of their favorite parks, Ronnie proposed on his parent’s anniversary to luxury event planner extraordinaire, Alexis, who started working her magic to bring to life the summer wedding of her and Ronnie’s dreams.
What made their destination wedding in Mexico so incredibly modern and authentic to the couple’s story is that there were shout-outs to both of their cultures at the ceremony and reception.
The weekend celebration held at Villa La Joya featured details like Mexican cuisine, the coolest churro cart, and fireworks to celebrate the couple’s I do’s.

Popping the question..
During the pandemic, it was our first year of living together in our new house on Long Island. We would go on walks and bike ride every day during the pandemic to clear our minds. Our neighborhood park was beautiful, quiet, and had a beautiful path along the water. On June 25th, 2022 (which was Ronnie’s parents’ 44th anniversary) he proposed at our favorite park and used his drone to capture the whole thing.
Wedding day style…
The wedding style was boho glam. Mexico was all of the boho chic style we needed with the backdrop, so we wanted to bring a touch of classic NYC glam with our outfits. Ronnie’s navy Indochino tux with black lapel would blend well with all the greenery and Alexis’ custom Pantora Bridal gown had a detachable skirt giving the two-in-one dress feature since a veil was not needed or the style for a beachfront wedding.
Perfectly suited…
Shopping for my dress…
Wedding dress shopping was very easy, I always knew I would have my dress made by Pantora Bridal as the wedding industry is very small, and running in the same circle as Pantora owner Andrea was normal….it also helped that I assisted at her wedding under Victorious Events NYC.
Our first look…
Celebrating our cultures…
We hosted a Chinese tea ceremony prior to our wedding to honor Ronnie’s family and on the day of the wedding we jumped the broom to highlight Alexis’ culture.
Our ceremony…
Memories…
We told our DJ that we were going to have fireworks at the end of the night, and we were not going to tell any of the guests. We trusted him to pick out the song and as Ronnie is a Drake connoisseur, Mike Music played “Fireworks” and as the beat dropped the fireworks went off in the air and surprised all of our guests.
Of course, we didn’t forget our fur baby!
The reception…
Party time…
Churro bites and sandwiches! Yessssss!!!!
Here’s the thing…
The best advice I can give to engaged couples and especially anyone planning a destination wedding is to give yourself a lot of time to plan so you will not have a stressful day. Giving myself two years in advance and visiting Mexico a total of three times before the wedding allowed me to be completely done planning two months in advance and I was able to focus on my guest list and transportation.
