- Wedding date: January 19, 2013
- Wedding location: Austin, Texas
What was your wedding like?
Our wedding can be described as “sophisticated minimalist” with an intimate guests list of approximately fifteen. We had three-person wedding party, and our reception dinner was at Eddie V’s in downtown Austin.
What do you remember most about your wedding day?
Chris: The nice hilltop location.
Kierra: Unfortunately, the family drama.
Was there anything you would have done differently for your wedding?
Chris: No.
Kierra: I would have had a traditional reception instead of dinner.
Our favorite things to do as a couple…
We like to dream together, set goals, and pursue them. We also love eating seafood!
Do you all cook?
Kierra: At least three times a week.
Do you have any children or pets?
We have a son, Mitchell (6) and a daughter, Zehira (4). Our pit bull is named Texas.
How do you make time for each other with your careers?
Chris is a logistics manager and I am a business owner/hair colorist. We make time for each other with day dates on Mondays while the kids are in school! Restaurants and theaters aren’t usually crowded so that’s a plus.
The most important elements for our marriage are…
Keeping God’s word as the authority, honoring each other through self-awareness, selflessness, transparency, and effective communication.
How do you keep the spark in your marriage?
Laughing together and enjoying our time apart.
What inspired your shoot?
We wanted to celebrate our ten-year anniversary and being debt free. We wanted to capture how far we have come in such a short amount of time!
What I love most is…
Chris: Her mind, how she thinks.
Kierra: He’s a man of his word. He consistently delivers on everything he says to me.
What advice can you give for newlyweds?
Chris: Allow marriage to sharpen you. Your wife will help you to see your blind spots—try to remain humble and receive it.
Kierra: Focus on the work that isn’t easily seen by others—the results will appear in due time.
