High school sweethearts, Shinead and Maurice, tied the knot at their classy gold and white wedding in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!
Shinead and Maurice first met as middle school students. They started dating in high school in 2006 and have been together ever since.
With the help of Shinead’s sister and their families, Maurice shocked Shinead with a romantic proposal. Shinead’s sister set up a birthday photo shoot for the two of them. As they headed to a new location, Shinead was surprised to see Maurice with all their friends and family in a beautiful courtyard. He popped the question and of course, she said yes!
Their classy white and gold black wedding featured modern decor, lush white florals, and sophisticated black details.

How did you meet?
The couple met in middle school. They were both participating in the Junior Beta Club induction ceremony and met during the ceremony’s rehearsal. Shinead and Maurice did not start dating until high school in 2006 and have been together ever since.
Tell us about the proposal.
Shinead’s sister told her she wanted to do a sister photoshoot for her birthday. At first, Shinead was suspicious because her sister didn’t have any details together, but she never suspected she was being tricked for a proposal. They both went and got their makeup done and then went to the first location. After taking a few pictures, the photographer suggested they go to another location. When they arrived, Shinead walked into the courtyard and there were all of her and Maurice’s friends and family. Shinead was in total shock!
Wedding Style:
For the wedding attire, we wanted to keep things simple and classy with a little bling. I decided on the Whitaker gown by Pantora Bridal. Maurice decided on a white tuxedo jacket with a black shawl lapel, and black tuxedo pants. He added a blinged “C” initial lapel pin and custom stitching on his shirt sleeve and coat tail.
How was the wedding shopping experience?
Shinead’s wedding dress shopping experience was a little complicated. She picked her first dress while 8 months pregnant without even trying it on. When the dress arrived, Shinead hated it and knew she could not walk down the aisle in it. She went on the hunt again and fell in love with the Pantora gown.
What is the best memory from your wedding?
Shinead’s best memory from the wedding was their vows to each other. It was the first time they had been so vulnerable about their love and our relationship in front of family and friends. Their vows really showed the type of relationship that they have with one another and how they really are best friends. Maurice’s favorite memory was Shinead coming down the aisle. He could not control his smile and could not believe they were finally about to tie the knot.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
The best advice we can offer is to do things your way and in your own time. Your wedding day is about you both as a couple and you both need to be happy. Regarding relationship advice, we would say make sure your foundation is solid.
