Featured in our latest print magazine, Issue 29, Megann and Michael’s sun-filled nuptials overlooking the Caribbean Sea captured by Fine Art Studio Weddings were the picture-perfect bohemian glam wedding in Mexico that we needed.
From their first meeting during Megann’s football game in the Legends Football League (LFL) in Philadelphia, PA, to a spectacular underwater proposal, this couple’s whimsical and romantic love story shows us what can happen when you choose the right team!
Not only was their wedding an all-out boho glam affair, but the bride’s ceremony dress from Blini perfectly captured the beauty of the natural surroundings of their destination wedding. The stunning gown featured gorgeous pearl detailing, a fabulous formal train, and the sexiest high slit for added high-wattage glamour.
The couple’s incredible three-day celebration at their beachfront venue in Casa Malca Talcum was designed by lead planner Magnolia Events and featured floral designs by Liz Alarcón who created the couple’s floral chandelier wedding arch and their enchanted fairy garden-inspired reception.

How we met…
We met while I was playing in the LFL (Legends Football League), a women’s professional Football Team in Philadelphia, PA. He was one of my coaches and it was his first year coaching our team. I was the team captain.
Popping the question…
He proposed to me at the Aquarium in Atlanta, GA, with a super sweet and creative surprise. There was a scuba diver in the tank and all of my closest friends were there!
Finding the one…
He was in love at first sight and I was intrigued and impressed with him and his relationship with his son. We also had a lot in common with our love for football.
Celebrating our culture…
We did a prayer at the opening of our ceremony and a ring ceremony which included passing the rings around and having all of our guests pray over them before putting them on our hands.
Dressing the bride…
My dress was a mesh and lace gown with an extremely long trail and one-sleeved with a high slit. Shopping for it was super stressful with the loss of my mother. I ended up picking a designer and dress she and I both fell In love with online before she passed away. It needed a few alterations, but it ended up being perfect. Also, my backup dress ended up becoming my reception dress. It also had a high slit, lots of cleavage, and was all lace with glitter and sequins. Now for the suit, we used one of our local tailors to design what I have been dreaming of for my boys.
Ceremony style…
We wanted a bohemian glam wedding, and it couldn’t be better than in Casa Malca, a hotel full of art with the bohemian atmosphere of Tulum.
My favorite thing was…
I loved wedding shopping. I started early with vision boards and charts, and it was so much fun narrowing everything down for the final perfect setting.
Our memories…
Our wedding was a three-day ceremony and there is not one best memory because we had so many. It was so much fun. It was like a beach party for three days straight with family and friends and lots of tequila.
Food for thought…
Don’t forget to eat on your wedding night. Make sure your wedding planner puts a plate aside for you. I don’t remember even tasting the food past the tasting!
We wanted you to know that…
The reception was beautiful. All of my thoughts of a fairy garden in the middle of the Philosophy restaurant came to life and everything was super chic and interesting, from the food to the entertainment and guests we invited. I loved mixing the Mayan and Mexican cultures into our day with the mariachi band, cocktails, food, etc. We had lighted balloons, large table floral structures, and a lot of candles. It was whimsical.
Can’t get enough of this seriously glam bohemian wedding?
