Bride, Christine, astonishes guests with her show-stopping custom gown and headpiece fit for a queen!
Christine and her husband, Osahon, held their luxe black and white modern wedding at the elegant Atlanta History Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The couple was first introduced through one of Christine’s friends. They took no time to hit it off and clicked right away.
It’s amazing how connections through friends can lead to meaningful relationships, and I’m grateful for that introduction!

Christine describes Osahon’s proposal as “truly magical”. Osahon planned an exciting day in New York, which started with a helicopter ride over the city. When they arrived back at their apartment, it was professionally decorated and a chef was cooking them a delicious dinner. The romantic and cozy setting made the proposal even more joyous and exciting!
Christine and Osahon previously had a traditional African wedding ceremony. For their American/Western-style wedding, they wanted to incorporate aspects of both of their cultural backgrounds and reflect the beautiful blend of cultures that make them who they are. Their black and white theme symbolized the harmonious union between two souls and the endurance and beauty of love in its purest form.
Our wedding day at the Atlanta History Center was not just a celebration of our love, but a testament to our shared values and commitment. In the simplicity of black and white, we found profound beauty, reminding us that love, like life, shines in its purest form. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who joined us, making this day one to remember.

Tell us about the proposal.
Our engagement was truly magical. Osahon planned such a beautiful day that started with a helicopter ride in New York. The cityscape below was breathtaking. What made it even more special was that he had arranged for our place to be decorated and had a chef prepare a delicious dinner. The proposal took place in the cozy and romantic setting he had orchestrated, making it a moment filled with joy, and excitement, and the stunning backdrop of New York City made it absolutely unforgettable.
Wedding Style:
Speaking of our wedding style, let me share the journey of our wedding attire.
For me, working with the designer and design team at Valdrin Sahiti was an absolute dream. Collaborating to create something unique and special that embodied my style was a truly memorable experience. The process involved careful consideration of every detail, ensuring that the dress reflected not just the aesthetics but also the essence of who I am.
On the other hand, my groom had a luxurious experience at Richmen Looks in Atlanta. The time spent there was about curating something timeless that would complement the overall theme of our special day. From selecting the fabric to fine-tuning the details, it was a process that reflected his personal style and contributed to the overall elegance of our wedding. The attention to detail from both designers made our attire not just something we wore on our wedding day but a representation of our personalities and the love we share.
Our chosen theme was simplicity personified, as we embraced the classic elegance of black and white. These two shades not only signified the harmonious union of our souls but also reflected the enduring beauty of love itself.
Our wedding day was a symphony of unforgettable moments.
At Swan House, we exchanged heartfelt vows framed by the lush greenery of the garden. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the reception began in the enchanting history center, where our guests dined at tables adorned with black and white centerpieces, and the laughter of friends and family filled the air.
The celebration continued under the night sky, with a dance floor illuminated by soft, romantic lights. It was a night of joy and unity, where our loved ones danced the night away, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Culture played a significant role in our wedding celebration.
Having had our traditional African wedding the year before, we decided to incorporate more aspects of our upbringing in American culture for our main wedding event. It was important for us to celebrate and embrace what has become such a big part of our lives growing up.
From the choice of music that resonates with our American roots to the inclusion of traditional American wedding customs, we wanted our wedding to reflect the beautiful blend of our cultural backgrounds.
The ceremony and reception were infused with elements that hold sentimental value for us, creating a harmonious fusion of traditions. It was a meaningful way for us to honor both our African heritage and the American culture that has shaped us throughout our lives.
What is your best memory from your wedding day?
Reflecting on our wedding day, it’s hard to pinpoint just one best memory because the entire day was truly magical. However, if we had to choose, it would be the moment we exchanged vows at Swan House.
Standing there, surrounded by the lush greenery of the garden, declaring our love in front of our closest family and friends, was an incredibly emotional and joyous experience. That moment captured the essence of our commitment and the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
The love and warmth that enveloped us throughout the day created memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
The Atlanta History Center, with its 33-acre campus featuring historic houses, lush gardens, and award-winning exhibitions, provided not only a picturesque setting but also a poignant backdrop for our special day. The history-infused ambiance of this location was not only beautiful but meaningful. The grandeur of the historic houses and the serenity of the gardens echoed the timeless nature of our love.

What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
As my partner and I reflect on our journey, the best wedding advice we can offer to engaged couples is to prioritize open and honest communication.
As you embark on this beautiful journey of love and commitment, take the time to share your dreams, fears, and aspirations, and, equally important, actively listen. Together, set common goals that align with your shared vision, whether they involve careers, travel, or building a family.
Recognize that conflict is a natural part of any relationship, but approach it with respect, seeking solutions and compromises that benefit both of you. Nurture your connection through quality time and keep the romance alive with small, thoughtful gestures. Be transparent about finances, support each other’s ambitions, and remember the importance of self-care, as strong individuals contribute to a stronger partnership.
In times of uncertainty, seek advice from trusted sources and, above all, never lose sight of the qualities and moments that brought you together. Marriage is a unique journey, and the key is to adapt, learn, and always prioritize love, respect, and mutual growth.
