How we met…
We met at a celebrity football game that I was working as a reporter and Tray was attending as a former football player. A mutual friend was also in attendance and introduced us on the sidelines. We exchanged contact information after talking for a few minutes and a couple of weeks later, we were on our first date. We spoke every day after that and about two years later, Tray proposed!
Our proposal story…
On the day of our engagement, I was under the impression we were shooting a YouTube commercial with our friend, Chef Stephen. I thought it was totally normal since Stephen had done commercials before and he asked us about it a couple of months beforehand.
When we arrived, there were roses and candles leading up the stairs to the rooftop where a table for two was set overlooking downtown Los Angeles. The chef and cameraman explained the “commercial concept” as a romantic date night evening so everything looked perfectly executed. We had a three-course meal and were just enjoying each other as they filmed.
After dessert, Tray said he had a surprise for me, and our parents walked onto the rooftop. I immediately burst into tears because my parents live on the east coast so I knew at this point he had to be proposing. He grabbed my hand, got down on one knee, and popped the question. I, of course, said YES! And then the rest of our family and friends, who traveled from all over the country, came out as well.
I had previously mentioned to Tray casually throughout our relationship that I wanted an intimate proposal but also wanted people there so it was perfect to me that the actual proposal was just us and our parents and then everyone joined right after. We celebrated with each other and our loved ones for the rest of the night.
Wedding Style…
Our wedding style was classic, with a mix of modern glamour.
Wedding Shopping Experience…
The shopping experience was a lot of fun. I went to a few wedding dress boutiques in Los Angeles, where we live, and a few places in New York since I’m from southern Connecticut. I didn’t think I would be the type of bride to cry when I found my dress but after putting it on at Kleinfeld and being asked the famous question, “Are you saying yes to the dress?” The tears came and I knew it was perfect for me.
The Dress…
My dress was a pure white Pnina Tornai gown with beautiful embroidery, and Tray wore a custom black and white tux.
The Reception…
Favorite Memories…
Our favorite memory from the wedding was our first dance. One of our favorite singers, Avery Wilson, sang our favorite song live as we embraced the moment of officially being husband and wife, knowing the planning was over, and just truly enjoying ourselves!
Here’s the thing…
We would say the best advice is to live in the moment on the big day. Inevitably, there are going to be little things that don’t go how you planned, but when it’s all over and you look back on the day, those little things won’t matter. Try to enjoy every second because it goes by fast!
