Nothing personifies true love as much as something homemade. When it came time to create their big day, Sathiyyah and Jonathan put their creativity to work to make the most inspiring Do-It-Yourself theme. From the invitations to the decorations, the majority of the “vendors” were family, friends, and Etsy.com. Mixed with Jamaican food and music, this beautiful “down home” wedding was photographed by Marlon Ming.
Bride: Sathiyyah Nichols – Media Journalist Groom: Jonathan Nichols – Graphic Designer Wedding date: May 19, 2013The Proposal
Jonathan took Sathiyyah to her hometown, New York, for her birthday. They spent the day waiting for the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting. They then toured the GE building’s observation deck while being followed by two mysterious men. With the New York skyline as his backdrop, Jonathan proposed and the two mysterious men turned out to be photographers Jonathan hired to capture the special moment.
The Wedding
We are creative people, so we wanted a DIY/homemade style wedding. We made our own invitations and programs. Whatever we didn’t make ourselves, we had made by friends and relatives, or ordered from Etsy.
Our wedding was styled to reflect our spring wedding date. Since Jon is a graphic designer, we created a style guide for the exact hues we wanted to use in our wedding. We did incorporate a bit of my family’s culture into our event through the food and music.
You Make Loving You So Easy From him… Her ambition and family mentality. From her… I like his determination to succeed and to protect me.Vendors
