Atiera and Joshua celebrated their love with an intimate “Night Before” celebration with close friends and family, followed by a beautiful earth-tone wedding at the Oceancliff Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island.
The couple, who first met at a lounge in Boston, took their relationship to the next level when Joshua proposed at the same spot they first met! Atiera recalls blissfully, “It was especially intimate because it was just the two of us, no cameras, no lights, just love!”
Creating meaningful, intimate moments is important for these two. Prior to their wedding, they chose to host a “Night Before” celebration with loved ones to ensure they got to really connect with each guest. The next day, they exchanged vows overlooking vista views from the Oceancliff Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island.
Special details included Atiera wearing her mother’s veil from her wedding day (which was 40 years ago, and her parents are still happily married!) and having Joshua’s grandfather who celebrated his 100th birthday the month after their wedding attend. “Having him there on that day was a big deal for our family,” she shares.

We met through our mutual friends at a lounge in Boston in my early twenties when I was in graduate school!
Tell us about the proposal:
The proposal happened 7 years after we’d been dating at the same place we first met. He got down on his knees and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. It was especially intimate because it was just the two of us, no cameras, no lights, just love!

My bridesmaids wore different styles of elegant sage green satin gowns and my maid of honor wore a champagne gown.
