Ayana and Demonté spiced things up with unique decor and couture fashion at their vibrant and modern Moroccan inspired wedding!

Ayana and Demonté’s love story began during their freshman year at East Carolina University. They met through mutual friends in the dining hall.

There was no better time for Demonté to propose than while they were on a bucket-list trip to Singapore! After a fun day of shopping and enjoying Universal Studios, Ayana and Demonté returned to their room. To Ayana’s surprise, there were rose petals in the shape of a heart with a ring in the middle of the bed. Demonté popped the question and Ayana of course said “Yes!”.

For their ceremony, Ayana and Demonté chose a modern and clean style with subtle hints of their Moroccan-inspired theme. The room was decorated in all white, with romantic draping, and accented with gold tropical foliage, which added a unique and striking element to the elegantly designed space. The elements inspired by Morocco shined during the reception, featuring vibrant jewel-toned hues, lush florals, Moroccan-style lamps, and gold tropical foliage to tie the two events together.

How did you meet?

We met our freshman year at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in our dining hall through mutual friends.

Ayana and Demonté’s Moroccan-inspired wedding is a captivating fusion of tradition and modern flair.

Tell us about the proposal.

Demonté proposed while we were on one of our bucket list trips in Singapore! We had a day out on Sentosa Island at Universal Studios Singapore and shopped on Orchard Road. When we got back to our hotel room there were rose petals shaped in a heart and the ring was in the center of the bed and he popped the question!

Describe your wedding attire.

The wedding style was traditional. Ayana was in an elegant white strapless gown from Winnie Couture with a (detachable) long fluffed train with a pop of color in her fuchsia heels and Demonté was in a custom tux with black pants, white jacket, and black oxford-style shoes. They both changed for the reception. Ayana elected a sparkly dress to dance the night away in and Demonté swapped his traditional white suit jacket for a more elevated look with black satin.

For Ayana, the shopping experience was amazing! She had private experiences at both Winnie Couture and Kleinfeld Bridal that made for a calm environment. For Demonté, customizing his suit with Jamison made for the best experience. He was able to get exactly what he wanted and was even able to add some personalized embroidery to his jackets.

Their all-white ceremony area, adorned with hints of gold, creates an ethereal ambiance, setting the stage for their vows. As the sun sets, guests transition to a reception bursting with vibrant hues of warm pinks, oranges, and plums, creating a feast for the eyes.

The pièce de résistance is the canopy enveloping the sweetheart table, awash in vibrant colors, symbolizing the couple’s love and the journey ahead.

Guests can indulge in a delectable array of treats at the tropical fruit station, while the spice wall offers personalized blends crafted by the couple as unique favors.

Did you incorporate culture into your wedding?

We are both African-American and so we HAD to incorporate jumping the broom. We decided to decorate our broom ourselves to hopefully pass it down to our children for them to use at their weddings.

What is your favorite memory from your wedding?

Our favorite memory, other than saying “I DO!”, was the room reveal of the reception space. Seeing the vision from the design deck come to life was amazing! It was so colorful and so different from a lot of the weddings we typically see.

What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?

The best wedding advice we can give to engaged couples is to enjoy the “engaged life” and have some alone time where you don’t discuss wedding planning.
