Chinenye wanted a classy wedding with a royal feel. With the help of her planner, Chioma of Dure Events, she received just that. Chinenye recalls, “I usually like to control everything, but I had to quickly learn that the wedding was not just for the bride, but the family.” Her Houston wedding was glamorous, with pink and gold tones and plenty of bling. Just take a look at the bodice of her Ysa Makino dress – amazing! Enjoy these stunning images courtesy of Foreverday Photos.

Wedding Style…
I found the perfect dress at Weddings by Debbie. My designer was Ysa Makino. My goal, when looking for the perfect dress was to be open-minded. This also meant not having a budget. I know this sounds off for someone like me who is very frugal when it comes to money, but I knew that if I gave them a budget (which is something that I was asked every time I stepped foot in a wedding boutique), they will show me the ugly dresses. So I was open-minded and tried out all the dresses that I liked. I never once looked at the price. I knew this method of picking a dress was a huge risk but I wanted to feel and look beautiful on my wedding day. I did not want to compromise my look. I tried on several dresses but there was this one dress that I loved the most. I knew it was the dress because I couldn’t stop crying. I finally looked at the price and started crying some more! Just joking! At that moment I knew that I did not want to try on any more dresses.
My advice to brides-to-be is to just go with a few people to try on dresses. For example, your mom and two really good friends is more than enough. More than 3 is a crowd and people can get very opinionated and make it all about them and not you. You want to find a dress that you feel good in. Also, do not be close-minded. Try on different types of dresses that brings out the “WOW” in you. Don’t just go for a “safe” dress! This is your wedding day! This is the time to shine inside and out!
Culture…
My husband and I are Nigerian so almost EVERYTHING had a taste of Nigeria. For example, the food, the traditional clothing, my planner (Chioma of Dure Events), the guests, the format of the wedding, the band, the photographer Muyiwa (Foreverday Photos), and the Videographer, Bode (Golden Icons) etc. As you can see, I love my culture so it was incorporated into everything!
Memories…
I have a few memorable parts of the day. The most memorable part of the wedding day was a note that was delivered to me from my husband. The words that I read gave me so much peace and assurance that he was the man I was supposed to marry. The first dance with my husband was also very memorable. It was as if we were the only ones in the room. Another touching part of the day was walking down the aisle with my father holding my hand. He is a cancer survivor and I thank GOD everyday for giving him life.
