When going through the wedding planning process your vision for your wedding may change many times. The Milano’s originally wanted to have a big wedding; however, after careful thought they decided an intimate non-traditional wedding was the way to go. The beautiful bride, Regine, described their wedding as, “simple, romantic, classy, vintage and elegant.” It was also full of cultural influences. Luis is of Dominican and Haitian descent and has lived in Barcelona, Spain, and Regine is Haitian-American. To honor their varying heritages their ceremony was conducted in both English and Spanish. During the reception a musician played traditional Spanish music and the couple served a Haitian cake from their favorite local Haitian baker. Description of Event
Planning a wedding is not an easy task especially when we had a very short time to execute everything. My husband and I were extremely fortunate to have my cousin and a good friend help us through the planning process. Despite our minor challenges of finding the right location and staying within budget, we wanted to have a non-traditional wedding so that our closest friends and family could feel the love that we had for each other. Our theme was to be simple, romantic, classy, vintage and elegant. From the simple brick backdrop set-up with candle light surrounding of our wedding ceremony, to the ambiance at the reception we knew everything pulled together nicely. Originally we thought we wanted to have a big wedding, but I wouldn’t change a thing- our wedding photographer Jeanette Polynice, our wedding planner Roxanne Bellamy, our guests, and our ceremony and reception locations were perfect.
Wedding Style
After announcing my engagement, the next best thing was to shop for a dress. Usually one would think it would be impossible to find a perfect gown on the first shopping trip. But going with my fashion savvy cousins I said yes to a glamorous vintage inspired sequin mesh gown by Adrianna Papell at Dillards.
Incorporation of Culture
Luis is of Dominican and Haitian descent but has lived most of his adult life in Barcelona, Spain, and I am Haitian American, so it was important to us that we included our cultures on the day that our families would unite. Little touches were evident throughout our wedding: the instrumentalists that serenaded us during the reception played traditional Spanish music, one of the cakes on our dessert table was a Haitian cake from our favorite local Haitian bakery and one of the cupcake flavors on our dessert table was of a popular Haitian drink called Kremas. Our ceremony was conducted in both English and Spanish with my vows to Luis in English and his to me in Spanish. Those details made the day feel like we had an important hand in it and made all of our guests feel at home.
Most Memorable Moment
Bride: When my dad held my hand to walk me down the aisle and seeing my husband to be.
Groom: When my wife to be finally held my hand in unity to say ‘I do”.
You Make Loving You So Easy
From the Groom...One of the many reasons why I love my wife is because she is never short of showing her love for me. I admire her diligence, commitment, and long-suffering for her desires which allows me to see her true self.
From the Bride…One of the things I love most about my husband is that he keeps his word. I can expect to honor his word and his sincerity.

Choosing wedding venues can be one of the most formative decisions in the wedding planning process. It entirely depends on you that if you see yourself making your vows at the church altar, or on a beach with the sand between your toes or on a Yacht.
