The bachelorette party is one of the most important duties of the Maid of Honor. It is the last hurrah before the bride begins her new life with her husband; the event is packed with too much alcohol and (hopefully) attractive strippers. However, if your bride is like my sister, the thought of having a man (or woman) put their family jewels in her face is enough to make her cancel the whole affair. If you still want to have a party that’s just as debaucherous as you’ve seen in the movies there are many unique events you can plan that will keep you and the bride happy.
Naked sketching– Hiring a nude model for the people at your party to sketch is a cute idea and your guests can bring home a free souvenir. If you don’t have Idris Elba on speed dial try posting on Model Mayhem or Craigslist. After you’ve found some potential men set up interviews in a public place, but be sure to create a separate email specifically for this unless you enjoy receiving dozens of nudes from random men.
Pottery making- If your bride enjoys arts and crafts than this would be perfect for her! If you live in a big city, it won’t be hard to find some place that allows you to come play with clay for a few hours. If you are lucky, they may provide you with champagne and snacks while you create mugs as well as fond memories.
Karaoke- Let your bride channel her inner Beyoncé while belting out Billboard’s Top 40. This is can be inexpensive and fun way to add some flare to your bar hopping, you may want to set up a reservation before you go so you can have a private room.
Camping trip- Some brides are more interested in roasting smores under the stars than foot massages at the spa, rent a cabin that’s close to civilization; after you spend the day fishing or going on hikes you can head to a local bar and hang with the locals.
Slumber party-When you are a little girl spending the night at your friend’s house was a treat; painting nails, watching movies and gorging yourself on snacks. Spending the night with the bride will be nostalgic, but also give you all a chance to relax and forget about the stress that comes with wedding planning. If you do not have a huge apartment rent a hotel or check out AirBnB or Homeaway to rent a house or apartment for the weekend.
