Some of the most popular days to propose are birthdays and holidays. Many people decide to make an already special day even more memorable by pledging their eternal devotion to the love of their lives. When Antrell was ready to prose to Morgan, he also picked a significant day- Morgan’s graduation from college. It was the perfect situation. Morgan had planned an elaborate graduation banquet and all of her friends and family would be there. Even though the engagement ring did not arrive until an hour before Morgan’s graduation, Antrell was able to dash across town, pick up the ring, and make it back to see her walk across the stage. Later on, when Morgan went to cut her graduation cake, she got the shock of her life. Somehow between picking up the ring and attending Morgan’s graduation, Antrell was able to hide the engagement ring in her cake. The night turned into a beautiful celebration of accomplishments, family and love.
A year later, friends and family happily gathered together again for Morgan and Antrell’s beautiful nuptials. The couple worked with Andria Lewis Events to ensure their day was planned and designed to perfection. Antrell’s favorite color is blue, so the couple decided to incorporate shades of blue into their décor. Their outdoor ceremony was beautiful and serene, with a gorgeous tree adorned with hanging flowers and a peaceful river serving as the backdrop. White flowers and silver accents, added a sense of modernity and glamour to their ceremony and reception spaces. Amy Hutchinson Photography captured every beautiful moment.

How They Met
Antrell and I met through a mutual friend. We were all planning a night on Beale St. in downtown Memphis and we all met up at Antrell’s apartment. When I first saw Antrell, I thought he was a handsome guy, but I quickly dismissed my feelings, because I wasn’t really trying to date anyone at that time. It was definitely not love at first site. On that day, I would’ve never envisioned that Antrell and I would later develop a friendship, that would blossom into unconditional love. I would’ve never thought that this man would become the love of my life and the man I would spend the rest of my life with. However, God had a plan for Antrell and I. I am truly blessed and grateful to have Antrell in my life.
The Proposal
From the Groom…In 2012 through prayer and guidance, I knew I was ready for one of the largest steps in my life. I just didn’t know when and where to do it. I knew early on that Morgan wanted to be surprised during the proposal and that she also wanted it to be around her family and loved ones. Then it all became clear, one night I overheard her on the phone talking for hours about her upcoming graduation from UT. As fate would have it, Morgan started planning her graduation banquet. The whole time I’m thinking “yeah graduation/proposal banquet” would be perfect! She booked the venue, food, photographer, sent out invitations, gave directions, and organized the whole event! In my mind I thought all I had to do is show up with the ring, which turned out to be an adventure in itself. To make a long story short, I didn’t get the ring until an hour into her graduation, which was on the other side of Memphis. I arrived at the graduation just in time to see her walk across the stage as I sat down next to our family members with a handful of fresh flowers. Once we got to the banquet our family and friends quickly realized what I had up my sleeve, everyone except Morgan ironically. Even while my mother had Morgan cut her graduation cake, her brother shouted out “Trell’s about to propose.” and she didn’t even hear him. After the first slice of cake was cut, we could not get her to stop talking about how everyone was making a big deal about her having to cut the cake. She went on and on about how this was inappropriate, it’s not like she was at a wedding ceremony. Finally, my mom along with the knowing crowd told her to look down at the cake which was hiding her engagement ring. Then the emotions hit her, first the shock, then laughter in disbelief followed by a river of tears. The night was beautiful and peaceful amongst our family and friends. Despite the bumps along the road, she said yes and we embarked on our new exciting journey together with one another.
Wedding Theme
We wanted our wedding to be chic and glamorous. Since it was a fall wedding and Antrell’s favorite color is blue, we decided to have blue as our main color. We could not decide on an accent color, so we kept all the flowers white with a hit of light blue throughout reception and ceremony.
Wedding Style
I wanted my dress to be a wow factor. It is an ivory drop waist ball gown. The bottom has a lot of drama with all the layers of ruffles. The top of the dress has jewels going around the sweetheart neckline and continues on to meet along the top of the dress on my back. The same jewel pattern that is along the top also line the top layer of ruffles.
Most Memorable Moment
My favorite part of the wedding was the “first Look” where Antrell and I got to see each dressed in our wedding attire for the first time. It was amazing to see his reaction to me in my wedding gown. I could truly see the love in his eyes. I will cherish those moments forever.
Wedding Advice
Get a good wedding planner. Planning a wedding is very stressful, so having someone who can help alleviate some of that stress is essential.
