A great proposal does not always have to be over the top or elaborate. Sometimes the most sincere proposals happen when the couple is just enjoying their normal routines. When Julius Williams decided to propose to his college sweetheart Tamika Taylor, he kept it sweet and simple. Tamika recalls, “He came downstairs while we were still in PJs, got down on one knee, told me I was the best thing that ever happened to him and asked for my hand in marriage. I was so excited and happy that he didn’t make a big production out of it. I’m glad it was just he and I–at home, comfortable. Plus, it was an even bigger surprise because I wasn’t expecting it.”
For their wedding, Tamika and Julius decided to mix simple and clean design elements with Old Hollywood glamour. Tamika channeled the grace and of sophisticated sensuality of a vintage siren in her asymmetrical fit and flare gown. A birdcage veil and feather headpiece complemented her long flowing curls perfectly. Luxurious red roses, white and black table linens and opulent ostrich feathers juxtaposed against the exposed brick of their venue, created an enchanting rustic-glam atmosphere during their reception. Most importantly, every moment of their nuptials was a sincere expression of their love. The Price Approach Photography did a fantastic job of capturing every special moment!

How They Met
Julius and I met at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where we both were students. We began dating June, 2007 and moved to Charlotte, NC in 2010 and to Richmond, VA in 2011. We knew we didn’t want to be apart from day one. We were (and still are) pretty inseparable….
Their Photographers
We chose the Price Approach Photography because they were recommended by a close family member who knew them. She said they were nice, honest, God-fearing people who produce quality pictures. After reviewing their photo gallery and seeing all the positive comments on their site and social media, I had a good feeling, but I was absolutely sold that they would help us capture our wedding memories after meeting them in person. Bryant and his wife Linda were very easy to talk to and listened to what I wanted, my vision, etc. and were very eager to help make our dreams come true. They were consummate professionals, and took every measure to make sure they got every shot we requested. Because of them, we have wonderful snapshots of our special day that we can show our children when they’re older and to cherish for the rest of our lives.
Most Memorable Moment
Saying our vows before GOD and a room full of witnesses and supporters.
Wedding Advice
I planned our wedding over 800 miles away from the venue in Birmingham, AL, so that’s additional stress on top of regular wedding stress. However, I used weddingwire.com to get me on a timeline and give me a monthly to-do list to keep me on track, efficient and not too overwhelmed by letting tasks pile up on me. Wedding blogs were the best source of inspiration and getting advice from people who had been through what I was going through.

Tamika Taylor Williams
I’m a little partial, being the bride! However, my hubby, Julius, and I can NOT stop looking at our wedding pictures. They are TOO beautiful and captured every moment that we requested and those candid ones that we weren’t expecting but were thrilled to have. The Price Approach is a wonderful husband and wife team who truly listened to me, and I am MORE than happy to recommend them to any other couple who are looking to relive their special day or event through images. Much love to Bryant & Linda!

I want to send a special thanks to my Aunt Dorothy Washington, for designing all my rose ball/candelabra and goose feather centerpieces (Tying the Knot 205-425-7030) and my Cousin, April Washington, for creating my vintage deep wave tresses and doing my candle apple red nails! I couldn’t have pulled off the Cotton Club Vintage Wedding Theme without you!
