Audrey thought she had gotten her boyfriend TJ the best Christmas gift ever when she took him to see his favorite b-ball team the New York Knicks. However, TJ took this opportunity to pull off a surprise proposal straight out of movie! TJ worked with the staff of Madison Square Garden to plan a Jumbotron proposal that would allow him to profess his love for Audrey to the world. He convinced Audrey that they needed to move seats during halftime, so they could participate in a halftime trivia game contest. When their faces were projected to the stadium, TJ stunned her and got down on one knee! You can see their charming proposal below.
This fun loving couple wanted a lively and summery feel for their wedding, so they went with a bright color scheme of orange, yellow and green. Vibrant hanging daises and colorful streamers created a cheery atmosphere during their ceremony and reception. There is plenty of inspiration in this wedding too, including a chalkboard seating chart and custom wine bottle table numbers. DCPG Photography beautifully photographed all of the details of this gorgeous summer wedding.

How We Met
We initially met online. He was new to MD and I was interested in trying something different. After communicating back and forth via, email, chat, and phone, we finally decided to meet up for a round of mini golf and dinner one night after work. We lived a good 45 minutes apart, so I tried to find some place in the middle. I was really interested in meeting him, since I wanted to see if he was telling the truth about being 6’6” tall (I had known a few guys who fudged their height a little) and to see if our chemistry over the phone and internet would translate well in person. When he showed up, I was able to confirm that not only was he as tall as he said, but he was even more amazing in person. We had a great night of mini golf (I even won the hole in one trick shot at the end) and conversation. That was in the fall of 2008. Fast forward a few months to a few days after Valentines Day and I called TJ after talking to some co-workers to make sure he was ok that I had been referring to him as my boyfriend (since we never discussed titles at that point). I asked “Do you mind if I call you my boyfriend?”, to which he simply replied “Yeah, that’s fine.” In hindsight, we both laugh about it, but in a way it perfectly describes us. In the almost 5 years since that time, through laughs, love, and great times, we have grown to be each other’s best friend, love of our life, and now husband and wife.
The Proposal
On Christmas Day of 2011, I gave TJ tickets to see his favorite basketball team, the NY Knicks, play the Miami Heat in New York City at Madison Square Garden in April. He was beyond excited to go, and within five minutes of un-wrapping the tickets, he apparently knew he wanted to propose on the Jumbotron at halftime of the game. This was big because it had been a running joke that whenever he tried to surprised me, his plans were always somehow foiled. The morning of the proposal, TJ worked with the arena staff to make sure all of the arrangements were in place and that I was fine and wouldn’t need food or a bathroom break during halftime. About two minutes prior to the proposal, he received a call from the arena staff and arranged to move our seats and have the proposal videotaped. TJ asked the staff, “What will I tell my girlfriend?” To which they replied, “Tell her you guys won something!” He then summoned me to the end of the row, and told me that he entered us in a contest that we won. I came over, and sat to next to him nervous about this game (I’m a Lakers fan and don’t know much Knicks trivia), preparing to answer a “trivia question.” At that point, the wedding song played over the loud-speakers and I assumed we would be playing the trivia game. I then see TJ get on the one knee and he popped the question. I was beyond stunned! TJ says that the look on my face indicated that both his mission of letting the whole world know that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and his mission of totally surprising me, had been accomplished. Wedding Theme
We wanted a fun and summery feel for our wedding. To help accomplish that used Gerbera daisies as part of the decor for the ceremony and the reception.
Wedding Style
My dress was a full tulle ball gown with a heavily beaded neckline, bodice, band, and skirt. Made with Tulle over Silky Satin lining and Sleek Satin band (from Casablanca Bridal). My favorite wedding accessory hands down were my Jimmy Choo shoes :-).
Most Memorable Moment
Seeing our reception space for the first time caught me by surprise. Our wedding planner took her beautiful drawings and brought everything (and more) to life. I was truly shocked and emotional at seeing how beautiful the space was transformed.
Wedding Advice
Unexpected things will happen, just stay focused on the purpose of the day and what it means to your life. At the end of the day it’s all about being able to marry your best friend who is the love of your life and that you all are proclaiming to all who love you that you vow to be together forever. That is the real reason for the day and not everything else that may be going on.
