Timing is everything when it comes to love. Even though Jasmine and Michael attended the same college, East Carolina University, and had mutual friends, they did not make a love connection until after they graduated! Upon graduation they both happened to relocate to Washington, DC to pursue their careers. Four years later they would meet online and learn that they worked on the same street. Although they inhabited the same space for years, fate allowed them to met at the right time in each other’s lives. When the time was right, Michael pulled off a surprise proposal during a trip to New Orleans!
To celebrate their upcoming nuptials, the couple had fun themed engagement shoot in Washington, DC. Michael served in the United States Army for eight years so they decided to wear fatigues and specialized dog tags, is to pay homage to his services. Since their wedding will take place in Puerto Rico on 11/7/2015, the couple decided to wear customized jerseys with the numbers “11” and “7” on the back. The Proposal
In December of 2013, Mike took Jasmine on a surprise trip to New Orleans. Initially Jasmine was told the vacation was a romantic getaway to end the year. Little did she know that on Sunday, December 15th, Mike would propose and change her life forever.
Their First Date
Our first date was at a restaurant in Maryland called Carolina Kitchen, and it was by far the worst date either one of us had ever experienced. It was apparent that we were different in more ways than one, but you know what they say… opposites attract. We tease each other about that infamous date all the time!
Favorite Activity to Do as a Couple
We are friends before anything else so we know how to have a great time no matter what we do. If we had to pick our favorite thing to do as a couple, it would be traveling. We love to explore new places and see what the world has to offer. We’re both foodies so a good restaurant always puts a smile on our faces.
Their Engagement Session
Our engagement session was pretty natural. Our photographers (Memories of Bliss) did a great job of capturing our true chemistry on camera, as we were able to interact freely with each other. It was a really relaxed shoot that started at Meridian Park and ended in the busy neighborhood of Columbia Heights in DC. We had a few different looks throughout our session that shared a piece of who we are, such as the military inspired theme.
Wedding Planning
Luckily we knew early on that we were going to get married in Puerto Rico. We took a vacation to San Juan and completely fell in love with the idea of getting married on the island, so when we got engaged later that year, choosing the right venue was simple. So far the wedding planning has been a fun and collaborative process. With a lot of preparation being done ahead of time, our goal is to be stress free as the date approaches.
Looking Forward to the Wedding
Starting our new life together as husband and wife!
