We had the pleasure of meeting Jaclyn Jordan at bridal market a few seasons ago and totally fell in love with her accessories. At a very young age, Jaclyn, with the help of her grandmother, began sewing and transforming her sketches into real designs. She produced her first fashion show while in high school and later on went to Savannah College of Art and Design to further improve her design skills. According to Jaclyn, “Each piece is meant to be passed down through the generations. By sewing everything, your veil or accessory can become an heirloom and new family tradition.”
We are so excited to be bringing back our TGIM giveaways with two amazing pieces from Jaclyn Jordan. And in addition, we’re thrilled to have her join the Coterie family! There’s so much to love about her designs:). Learn more about her in our interview, then go and repost all over instagram so you can have a chance at winning one of her gorgeous designs. Best of luck!
When and how did you get started in your business?
I started Jaclyn Jordan right after my husband and I got married in June of 2012. We had just moved to Chicago and I took over the 2nd bedroom of our apartment for my office and studio. I had been in bridal for a little over 7 years at that point and felt like it was the right time to live my dream and start designing.
What did you do before starting your company?
I was primarily working in bridal, managing bridal salons and designing for a designer.
What are some of your best selling items?
The “Anne” and “Aurora” veils are great! The Anne is a simple waltz length veil with a slim alencon lace edge. It goes so well with many lace gowns. The Aurora is just so clean and simple. It is just a cut edge and floats with you. Our new “Gabi” lace bolero and “Leanne” tulle skirt are also selling really well!
Anything else you’d like our readers to know?
Our pieces are lovingly made in New York City. I take such pride in designing and making beautiful things for our brides. Our design team has a meticulous attention to detail that pushes us to have a high standard of quality.
FUN STUFF!
What’s in your handbag right now?
Chapstick, Make It Happen by Lara Casey, Sunglasses, old receipts and straight pins
iphone, blackberry or android?
iPhone
If you could travel to any location right now, where would it be?
Looking at all this snow outside … I can’t decide if I want to go skiing at the closest mountain or go lay on a beach.
Favorite thing to do?
Get together with friends after a long week and relax (with a cocktail!)
Guilty pleasure?
Singing along to every pop song on the Taylor Swift Pandora station.
