If you cannot have a destination wedding, why not have your wedding at a venue that reminds you of our favorite city. When Sherettha and Robert were planning their nuptials, they debated on many wedding themes, until they decided on having an intimate and romantic theme. They wanted their guests to feel as if they escaped to Tuscany for a trip to an elegant and romantic winery, and their venue, provided the perfect platform to epitomize their theme. Sherettha shares, “We envisioned classic beauty, with a touch of extravagance, with vivid colors in small doses.” A gorgeous color scheme of sangria and grey enhanced the romantic ambiance of their summer nuptials. Distinct Event Planning brought the couple’s vision to life and Comfort Photography beautifully captured this lovely Ohio wedding.

Rob and I met in 2010 on Match.com and had our first date at BJs. He proposed on August 16, 2013 in the Dominican Republic. We went to dinner and to a show at the resort with friends. I wanted to walk around the beach at night, so we decided to take a walk. While on the beach, Rob was extremely fidgety and didn’t want me to sit next to him in the chair, so I thought his behavior was odd! (I sat next to him anyways)
Moments later, he stood and declared his love for me. I thought he was joking and told him to stop playing, but soon realized he was serious when he got on one knee. He took the ring out of the box and I started crying. It was one of the surprising and joyous moments of my life.
Wedding Theme
When we embarked on the planning phase of our wedding, many ideas from modern chic to rustic came to mind. We discussed many of pros and cons to each theme presented. The more we delved into planning, we decided on an intimate, romantic, and elegant vibe. Ultimately, we decided that ‘romantic elegance’ was the theme that best conveyed both of our personalities. We envisioned classic beauty, with a touch of extravagance, with vivid colors in small doses. Our wedding venue, The Venue at the Corazon, provided the perfect platform to epitomize our romantic elegance theme. We wanted our guests to feel as if they escaped to Tuscany for a trip to an elegant and romantic winery. We chose Sangria (Sherettha) and Gray (Rob) as our wedding colors to further enhance our romantic elegance theme.
When planning, food and music were also top priorities; we wanted to ensure guests had succulent meals, in addition to live music during cocktail hour and dinner, and a hype DJ for the reception. Our guests selected between either Lemon Rosemary Chicken or Pan Roasted New York Strip for their entrees.
Incorporation of Culture
While I cannot say that our culture was incorporated into our wedding, I can state that we had a traditional ceremony that included our religious beliefs with prayers and scripture. Ensuring that our marital foundation is Godly is of the upmost importance to us.
Most Memorable Moment
My best memory was the first dance with my husband and feeling enraptured by his love, knowing that he is my present and my future! Another memory would be performing a routine dance with my son.
Help a Bride Out
My best advice would be to remain organized and hire a planner. If it had not been for my planner, Lucretia Williams at Distinct Event Planning, I would have been completely unorganized and would have missed numerous deadlines. Also, please remember to pay attention to detail.
