August 30, 2013, changed Teneshia’s life forever. It was Memorial Day weekend and she and Anthony decided to travel to Washington D.C. for some rest and relaxation. Little did she know, Anthony planned to propose. He had arranged for a driver to take them around the city. They ended up touring the Washington National Cathedral; they were the only ones in attendance for the 20 minute service. It gave them a chance to pray, read scriptures together, and express how much they loved each other. As they left, Anthony convinced Teneshia to take a tour of a nearby rose garden. Her feet hurt from walking all day, but Teneshia obliged. As they walked the garden, Teneshia heard a saxophone playing their favorite song, “Share My Life” by Kem. They next thing she knew, Anthony was on one knee, and their friends were rushing out of the bushes. To top it off, Anthony had his friend, who is a professional photographer, secretly take photos of the whole proposal.
They had a traditional church ceremony and a glamorous reception. Teneshia shares, “The entire [reception] room was filled with white sheer drapery and uplighting with large crystal chandlers hanging from the ceiling, all designed by Krystal Bonner with Phoenix Forrester Events . The centerpieces were one of the two main focal point of the room, the other being the six tier cake. The centerpieces stood out with large silver branches sprouting from a purple satin base with an array of purple and fuchsia flowers. The six tier cake, standing over 7 feet high (it took a latter to assemble and cute the cake) was the wow factor of the night.” Kerry Brooks Photography captured the opulent purple and fuchsia wedding all beautifully.

My ceremony gown was custom designed by Veejay Floresca out of Makati City Philippines. This designer was featured on Project Runway Philippines in 2008. The first time I saw his work I knew he had to make/design my wedding gown. I contacted him via email and from there the process began. I had an amazing tailor, here in Huntsville, AL, who worked with Veejay on getting my correct measurements. It was an amazing experience shipping my gown back and forth from the Philippines to Alabama and trying on bits an pieces of the gown. But I enjoyed every moment. My reception dress was a Lazaro gown from Bridals by Lori, out of Atlanta, GA. This gown was the first and only gown I tried on ever. I feel in love with this gown the first time I saw it.
Incorporation of Culture
We wanted to keep our wedding as traditional as possible. We stayed with the traditional Wedding March and the jumping of the broom.
Most Memorable Moment
The entire day was my favorite memory. If I have to pick one it would be my brothers giving me away. My father passed away 3 years ago and he was a Vietnam Veteran, so in honor of my father my brothers gave me away dressed in their formal military uniforms. It was the best tribute to my father that we could have done.
Also the transformation of the building that my reception was held. The reception was held at the Historic Roundhouse Depot. The entire room was filled with white sheer drapery and uplighting with large crystal chandlers hanging from the ceiling, all designed by Krystal Bonner with Phoenix Forrester Events. The centerpieces were one of the two main focal point of the room, the other being the six tier cake. The centerpieces stood out with large silver branches sprouting from a purple satin base with an array of purple and fuscia flowers. All floral designs were by Rhonda Patton. The six tier cake, standing over 7 feet high (it took a latter to assemble and cute the cake) was the wow factor of the night. The cake was topped with a handcrafted jeweled egg, by Couture Cakes, covered with white sugar flowers cascading down the side of the cake.
