Darius met Adrienne through the dance ministry at their church, Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries in Richmond, Virginia. “The first time I saw her minister, I saw a flow that reminded me of myself when she danced” shares Darius. After a whirlwind few years of dating, Darius planned the elaborate proposal of a lifetime, for (what he so affectionately calls Adrienne) his queen. “The proposal was a mandate that GOD gave to me and said flow. I remember Adrienne once telling me ‘I can’t get got’. But GOD gave me a divine vision to please and open the heart of his.” says Darius
With only a two week time span to get everything in order, Darius swiftly called around to get everything situated and without a doubt, everything seemed to fall in place. “I surprised Adrienne with a Flash Mob dance to the hit song “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. I greeted her by surprise in the middle of the song dancing to get her attention. At that moment Adrienne was still unaware of what was taking place” says Darius.
“A song so dear to our heart began to play named “You Have My Heart” by Canton Jones. It was then I and two other dancers on the dance ministry began to dance. Next she was greeted by longtime mentors, sisters, and friends with a yellow rose to show appreciation. That was followed by a song I wrote to her, sung by my brother Dominic, and the hook said:
“You are my QUEEN and I wanna marry you and I/Show you there’s someone who cares for you/And this is how GOD’s love is supposed to be/We come together and make history because you know that I love you/And I wanna marry you/If you say yes!” shares Darius.

Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?:
We agree that our engagement session was nothing short of amazing. Chi-Chi was very interactive with us, as she engaged in conversation, asked questions, joked a little, and made our overall experience comfortable and the shots natural. She had such interesting ideas and was opened to ours as well. She captured our natural emotions and expressions, which is what we really prayed for. We did not really have a set theme for the shoot, so we really allowed Chi-Chi to flow in her gift and help guide us along the way. The spots she chose were perfect; very intimate, unique, and allowed us to be.
What did you do on your first date?
On our first date we spent the entire day together, literally talking for 8 hours. We walked around on the rocks (by the stream), got some ice cream, and then went to dinner.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?:
Darius: My favorite thing to do as a couple is to minister beside My Queen. Adrienne: I enjoy laughing and not taking everything so serious.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Adrienne: Wedding planning has been minimally stressful thanks to my awesome planner. She keeps me in check. We have a few more things to get situated before the big day, but we are excited.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day:
Darius: I mostly look forward to saying I DO to My Queen.
Adrienne: I look forward to seeing all our family and friends come together to experience the love and fun and of course saying I Do.
