Makail and Kevin met in Indiana while Makail was completing her senior year at university.
It was a rainy Thursday at a local bar when Makail sensed “a tall person” standing behind her. “I couldn’t leave without saying you’re beautiful,” Kevin told Makail as she turned to face him. Exchanging Snapchat information they began regularly talking, becoming absolutely “smitten with each other.” It wasn’t long before their relationship was made official, and after three amazing years together Kevin and Makail “cannot wait” to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.

How did you meet? Kevin and I met in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University while I was a senior in college. It was a rainy Thursday and I was out at a bar called Kilroys with my roommate Jasmine. While we were talking, my roommate tells me someone is coming up behind me. Then, I feel a tall person behind me and he said, “Excuse me?” I turn around and see this guy. He says, “Hi, my name is Kevin.” And I said, “Okay, hi I’m Makail.” Kevin then proceeds to tell me that he is leaving and says, “I couldn’t leave without saying you’re beautiful.” Of course, it was a cute line but I wasn’t impressed! He asked me for my number and I said “no” and gave him my Snapchat instead. The rest was history! Kevin and I had not stopped talking since. We were so smitten with each other. He asked me to be his girlfriend May 13th, 2017. Together we have traveled around the world. And have spent three amazing years together! We cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together!
Tell us your proposal story. On the day of my proposal, I flew into Indy for my best friend Kenzie’s bachelorette weekend. I was so excited about her getting married and getting into trouble that weekend! I thought Kevin was in Michigan for a work conference. All my friends were there for the bachelorette party and were aware of the proposal. I had NO IDEA! We met over Kenzie’s for brunch then headed downtown to take photos at Monument Circle. I ran into two of my really close friends (there for the proposal) and it didn’t click to me what was going on. We were there quite a while taking pictures. Eventually, my friend told me to stand on a certain spot and I look over and see Kevin walking up to me in a suit looking FINE! Then it hit me, oh my gosh he’s proposing! I tried to run because I saw my entire family and friends walking up too. I was in a blubber of tears. But I couldn’t have been happier!
Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was so much fun! I’ve taken photos before, but Kevin never had. It really brought out the sexy in us both. As well as the love we have for each other. It was just so natural and beautiful. Our photographer Raynesha Dorsey was really creative with our positions and different backdrops. I’m for sure getting more done.
What did you do on your first date? On our first date, we met up at the Embassy Suites Hotel where he was staying (we were long distance for about a year). We just talked and had so much fun at the happy hour. I remember drinking margaritas and eating chips and salsa. We were just laughing and enjoying each other’s company. After happy hour we went to Olive Garden and ate until we couldn’t move. It was such a fun day!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We like to experience new things together whether it’s doing an escape room or traveling. We like to try different restaurants and taking our dogs to different parks. We enjoy each other’s company so much anything is fun.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been easy because it’s a destination wedding. I have my own personal wedding planner that has been helping me with every step! I’m so excited to be in Jamaica on my wedding day. Beautiful beaches and beautiful people! I just found my wedding dress!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. I’m most looking forward to seeing Kevin’s face when I walk down the aisle. Just seeing me walking down to become his wife. He’s my best friend. Celebrating our love with our families is all I need.
