The Lincoln Memorial was the perfect setting for a stunning engagement shoot with this incredible power couple.
From the juxtaposition of the elegant, all-black luxe formal wear strategically paired against the classical Greek-inspired Lincoln Memorial to the clean line of the Washington Monument in the background, Nicole and Gerald’s photoshoot was a picture-perfect glimpse into their world. “I wanted our shoot to exude a powerful couple. So what better place than Washington, D.C. at one of the monuments. We chose to wear all black and shoot at the Lincoln Memorial because we wanted a clean and classic look.”
Incredibly, Nicole and Gerald crossed paths when they attended the same training class even though both of them worked as Cyber Security Engineers in separate cities and for different companies!

Tell us how you met
We are both Cyber Security Engineers and despite working for different companies and in different cities, we ended up in a training class together since our projects loosely relate. He noticed me sharing M&Ms with another classmate and came over to ask for some. I gladly shared and as he puts it “she’s been feeding me ever since.” We chatted during breaks for the remainder of the day. I gave him my business card that conveniently had my personal cell number on there. It took him over a week before he caught the hint. LOL
What did you do on your first date
We went to see the zoo lights at the Smithsonian National Zoo. He loves to tell the story of how I wore a fur to this zoo date.
Tell us your proposal story
Gerald planned a “do over” trip to Horseshoe Bend, Arizona. When we arrived, he had a photographer in place who pretended to be taking shots to build her portfolio and asked us if we would mind being a part of it. As we took in the breathtaking view, Gerald expressed how the initial trip was canceled because he was uncertain about us. Therefore, he felt that this was the perfect place to start a new chapter of our relationship. Then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cried uncontrollably and of course, I said YES! The feeling was indescribable and it was all captured perfectly.
Describe your engagement session
“Power Couple!”
When did you know he/she was “the one?”
After prayer and confirmation from God.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple
Our favorite thing to do as a couple is to experience new things by traveling and eating at unique restaurants.
How has wedding planning been so far
Wedding planning has been a cluster of mixed emotions, from stress and disappointment to excitement. We enlisted the help of a full service planner and she has been a tremendous relief. It is really tough navigating through wedding planning in the midst of Covid and ever-changing guidelines.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day
We are most looking forward to seeing our vision all come together. We cannot wait to celibrate this moment with all of our friends and family.
