Sometimes having a party crasher isn’t such a bad thing. In Alexandria’s case, the random guy that crashed her 17th birthday party turned out to be the love of her life. The party crasher aka Neilsen was accompanied by a friend, who later ended up providing the music for the party after Alexandria’s original DJ was a no-show.
His friend incidentally left the party with a cord from her parent’s speaker and the moment she started the hunt for the missing cord is the moment she became aquatinted with Neilsen. “I had to contact Neilsen to source it and we ended up talking until four in the morning” says Alexandria. Now – nine years, two degrees (each), and one long distance relationship later – on December 25th 2014, he proposed to her as the two opened gifts. And as the saying goes, the rest is history!
Scroll on for more from Alexandria and Neilson’s vintage-romantic island wedding in Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas. Their wedding was stunningly captured by coterie member, Stanley Babb of Stanlo Photography.

What is your best memory from your wedding?
Our best memories were when our eyes locked as I came down the aisle, as if we were the only two people in the church. We both came to tears with overwhelming emotions of joy and happiness. Also, the heartfelt speeches from the maid of honor and best man that had us laughing and crying throughout. And the father/daughter dance that brought everyone to their feet with songs from Bob Marley, Al Green and Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Enjoy the engagement process, there will be ups and downs but that comes with it! This prepares you for the biggest commitment of your lives, marriage and it is a beautiful thing. Remember compromise and patience is key and wedding planning should be fun and exciting. I enjoyed every moment of my engagement and wedding day.
