How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal!
It was a match made in Heaven! We met while serving on the same ministry at our home church in Poughkeepsie, NY. After asking for my daughter’s blessings, he visited me in South Carolina for New Year’s. At midnight, he and my daughters presented me with a dome and what I thought was a slice of cake. I quickly realized that it was a ring and I screamed “Yes!” at midnight. Our wedding date was a year to the date from the day we first spoke on the phone. After a brief long-distance relationship, he relocated to South Carolina to be with me.
What was the inspiration behind your wedding day?
We wanted both luxury and subtle hints of my Grooms’ culture. He always refers to me as “His Queen” and we thought that it would be special and unique to marry the two since neither one of us had a wedding.
How did you choose your wedding day looks?
I knew that I wanted something angelic, that was fashionable and modest to honor God and my Husband and I relayed everything to the designer. I wanted something timeless and classic but still channeling the essence of a modern woman. For the Groom, we wanted something classic with African inspiration. His bespoke tux fit the bill.
How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and reception?
Larry and I hired a trusted team to execute our vision. We highlighted our desires and our team delivered. We wanted lush florals and requested such from our decorator.
The ceremony…
Larry and Sharon’s love extends far beyond the two of them. It’s a love that envelops their children, church friends/family, and all those dear to their hearts. You’ll witness the warmth and joy of their family coming together, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.

What is your best memory from your wedding day?
My favorite parts were seeing my Groom as I walked down the aisle, dancing with my daughters, and finally becoming one! A special moment was when we first locked eyes as I walked out of the doors. I just knew that it was my happily ever after. It was a freeing moment. We felt like we could fly.
With a touch of Africa woven throughout the celebration, Larry and Sharon’s wedding paid homage to their heritage. The album captures the vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and traditional elements that made their day a beautiful blend of cultures. From the decor to the attire, every detail radiates the spirit of the Motherland.

What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
Trust the process, be patient, and wait on God. In the waiting, questions will arise and there will always be stress, but trust the process. It is all worth the wait.
