Tylethia and Kevin’s love story began in high school, where they shared a kiss under the staircase.
Though they remained close, it wasn’t until after high school when in their 20s that they began to officially date. Realizing that they were meant to be, Kevin found the perfect proposal opportunity during a trip to Costa Rica while celebrating Tylethia’s birthday. Surrounded by the love and support of family and friends, Tylethia and Kevin were married in a beautiful mansion wedding in Maryland.

How did you meet? We met in high school. Kevin was a sophomore and I was a freshman. Kevin was the first person to introduce himself to me on the school bus. He joked with me about not being able to sit in the back of the bus with the “cool kids”. We shared one kiss in high school under the staircase. Kevin always joked that I had on Blistex! We did not formally date until later in our 20s.
Tell us about the proposal. We traveled to Costa Rica to celebrate my 32nd birthday. I knew this would be a memorable trip but little did I know! The next day after we arrived we were refreshed after a long day of travel. Kevin got down on one knee (at 7:30 am!) and asked me to marry him. He then followed up with how he didn’t want to go the entire trip with saying I was his girlfriend because he felt I was more than that! It was the best trip ever!
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? My wedding dress was not the initial dress that I had picked out. I had a situation where the first bridal shop sold me a dress that had been previously altered but failed to mention. We bought the dress knowing it had to be taken out a little or I lose weight. Bad idea! As the time got closer for alterations the seamstress let me know that she could not do anything for me. There was not enough fabric in the dress to be taken out and it couldn’t be ordered. This was 6 weeks before my wedding and I cried real tears! The only other option was to purchase a whole new dress which ended up being the absolute perfect dress for me! This dress was too big but could easily be altered this time! Mermaid style with beautiful embellishments. My reception dress was a party dress! Silver sequins all over and just a show stop stopper. I felt like a true Queen. Kevin wore a gray tuxedo with engraved cuff links.
