Ethiopian-born Amsale Aberra got her start in the bridal industry while planning her own wedding. Frustrated with the lack of simple and classy gowns, she was left to design her own wedding gown…and from there, Amsale was born. Today, over two decades after she began her bridal line, Amsale’s creations can cost you thousands of dollars, and have been worn by A-list movie stars and even featured in Hollywood films.
We recently had the pleasure of attending our first bridal market this past October. One of our favorites shows was the Amsale showing. We just ADORE the simplicity in her gowns…yet, they remain sophisticated and elegant with subtle, classy details. Her Fall 2011 Collection is all the rage. Check it out!
Eronmwon and I had a chance to interview Amsale backstage after the show. We’ll share the interview and video coverage with you in an upcoming post.
Lookout for Amsale’s reality show, “Amsale’s Girls,” set to air in April, 2011. The show gives brides a chance to get a feel for what the atmosphere is like at Amsale’s boutique. We’re really looking forward to this one! Also, here’s a video below of her recent interview with CNN’s African Voices.

In a word: STUNNING.
