Every other Thursday, Kawal’s love for pizza lead him to hang out at Three Brother’s Italian Restaurant, in Greenbelt, MD. And on one lucky Thursday he spied Jessica strolling through the mall and was immediately struck by her beauty. He wondered what a girl like her was doing there and told himself that he would not let this beautiful mystery girl get away without approaching her first. “He approached me and said excuse me, as I turned around and looked at him I was definitely interested! Then I said yes and the rest is history” jokes Jessica.
But really that wasn’t the end. In fact Jessica mistakenly passed him the wrong number. So Kawal was again left wondering about the beautiful mystery girl. It wasn’t until three months later that the two randomly bumped into each other at a gas station in Greenbelt. “The first thing he said to me was ‘you gave me the wrong number’! I was so embarrassed, but he took my phone and called his self to get the accurate number and the rest is history” shares Jessica.
This charming Marvel-comic loving couple decided to have a formal engagement session at Meridian Hill, a historic park in the Nation’s Capital, since they’re marrying at a private courthouse ceremony. And as a special way to honor Kawal’s heritage, Jessica dressed in traditional Indian garb.

Tell us all about the proposal!
Jessica: After 7 years of dating we decided that we wanted to get a house together and then we would focus on getting married. In August he was looking at rings and then he later asked what types of styles I liked. I showed him my top 5 designs and we went to look at a diamond import jeweler. I then picked the one that I fell in love with but didn’t think I would receive it as soon as I did. About two months went by and I calculated that my ring wouldn’t come until my birthday (which is January 4th) but nope! One thing I love about Kawal is that he always keeps me guessing and surprised!
In October he told me he was planning a day in DC for us to walk around, grab some lunch at our favorite seafood restaurant, and just sight-see. But this day would be the day that would change everything. We got out the car by the Capitol near the large pond in front, he asked if I would like to make a wish by the pond. I said “but of course I love to make wishes”! He said, ‘now you have to do it right honey, close your eyes and count to five’. I said, ‘okay I can do it’ as I thought of my wish, I closed my eyes and counted. When the quarter hit the water and I opened my eyes there was the ring and he asked me to marry him! I screamed, said yes, and was jumping all around, it was just so perfect!
