This romantic micro wedding in Chesapeake, Maryland was all about fall charm and intimate details.
In the age of liking, swiping, and sliding into DM’s Amber and Phillip met the old school way- in elementary school. Even as a small child, Phillip knew he had a remarkable connection to Amber but was too shy to reach out “We first met in elementary school. Phil always had a crush on me. I just never knew it.” Ambers says. “Even as years passed and we grew older, we bumped into each other a few times, but exchanged only a “hello” and a smile.”
The charming duo’s, waterfront ceremony was held at Kurtz Beach in Pasadena, Maryland with a close group of family and friends to witness the couple’s nuptials. Initially, the bride and groom planned a 2021 ceremony, but due to the pandemic and Amber’s pregnancy, they decided to pivot their wedding to 2020. However, Amber and Phillip’s determination and love for one another guided their path forward to the wedding day of their dreams. Scroll below to get an intimate look at Amber and Phillip’s ceremony.

How did you meet?
( Phil)I was always nervous when I saw her and couldn’t muster up the courage to say anything but “hi,” regretting not taking my shot afterwards. Fast forward to early 2016, I decided to create a Facebook account, and something told me to look for her. I always wondered what she had been up to all these years.
( Amber)I remember getting his friend request, but I had no idea it was him, so I deleted his request and went on about my life. Several weeks later, I came across his profile again. This time, I noticed we had several mutual friends (folks from our elementary school), and then it all clicked. I felt bad I had deleted his request, so I sent him a message apologizing.
(Phil)Once she messaged me, I wasted no time asking her if she was single, and she said yes! “It wouldn’t be too much to ask you out to dinner,” I asked. “Sure,” she said, and the rest was history.
Tell us about the proposal.
(Phil) “I was planning to pop the question on her birthday during a pre-planned trip to San Diego. Then, the pandemic happened, cancelling our plans. Despite all this, I decided not to wait for the “perfect” time and simply proposed to her at home when she least expected it.”
(Amber)”I was home in my pajamas, and my hair was all over the place. He said he had something to talk about, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Without hesitation and filled with excitement, I said yes!”
Describe your wedding style.
( Amber) I wore an ivory fit and flare wedding gown with lace and beaded pearl accents, while flaunting my five-month belly bump.
(Phil) I wore a sleek, classic fit tuxedo: cream jacket; black slim fit pants; black shirt; polka dot bowtie and pocket square; and black and cream loafers with a globe print.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Shopping for the perfect dress as a pregnant bride-to-be with only two months until our wedding day was no easy task. I had to account for my potential weight gain leading up to our special day. Many shops that I called and visited did not carry maternity dresses, which was a bit disheartening. However, I was fortunate to meet an amazing seamstress, Ann, at Amanda Ritchey Bridal who was beyond up for the challenge of helping me find a gown that would complement my growing belly bump, while ensuring I felt beautiful despite my physical changes.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Our best memory was the exchanging of our written vows and dancing to Teddy Pendergrass, “Loving Somebody” after we were pronounced husband and wife.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Wedding planning can easily become a stressful task. Consider hiring a reliable planner who can help you manage a number of moving parts leading up to your special day, so you can truly focus on what’s most important: the love and commitment between you and your spouse-to-be.
