Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Marcus and I met through a mutual friend. I knew after 3 dates he was the one. Since Marcus is a videographer it was no surprise that the proposal took place in his studio. We were doing couples photos and he got down on one knee and pulled the ring from under his hat. It was so romantic and creative. The entire proposal was captured in photos.
How did you know they were “the one”? After our first date I knew he was different. We bonded over our love of family, food, and God. He was so sincere and genuine.
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding shopping was frustrating and fun! Once i found my dress I instantly knew it was the one. My wedding dress was modern yet classic. The top was modern with a ball gown bottom.
Wedding Party gifts: I designed customized bedazzled converse for all of my bridesmaids. They wore them during the reception. They took me months to finish but I really wanted them to know how much I appreciated them being a part of our special day.
Favorite item on the menu: Shrimp and Grits
First dance song: “Fire We Make” by Alicia Keys and Maxwell
What is your best memory from your wedding? Our best memory is the moment after we were pronounced husband and wife. Walking down the aisle while all of our friends and family were cheering was a moment of pure happiness and love.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? Be present and live in the moment. I think it’s important to step back and take a few moments just to take it all in.
