Angela and Oliver are celebrating the one year mark of their wedding anniversary with this beautiful couples photo session, that also provides them with more portrait photos missed out upon during their wedding in Nairobi, Kenya. The key to a successful marriage for these travel lovers is plenty of communication. The ability to love each other with all their hearts is at the core of what binds them together. Read all about Angela and Oliver as they celebrate their first year, and many more to come, in beautiful Kenya.
When did you get married and where? September 30th 2017, Kenya School of Law – Nairobi, Kenya.
What was your wedding like? Our wedding was simple, beautiful and so much fun! We had an outdoor garden ceremony wedding followed by a reception at the same venue with our close friends and relatives.
As you celebrate your anniversary, what do you remember most about your wedding day? The dancing – we danced a lot! It was super fun!
Was there anything you would have done differently for your wedding? Oliver: “I wish we had posed for more pictures as a couple, with my family, and bridal party! Everything was very candid and beautiful, but posed pictures would have captured better photos for print. Other than that everything else was just perfect for us.”
Angela: “I have been planning weddings professionally since 2015, so I definitely planned my own wedding. My mistake though was not getting a professional coordinator for the day. I had amazing friends who helped me out on the day, but I was also the bride that was so focused on ensuring that the day was going well. Looking back I wish I took a step back and enjoyed the day a little bit more!”
What are your favorite things to do as a couple? We love to travel together. Just being in the car, driving together even to the countryside is so much fun for us.
Who cooks? I (Angela) do most of the cooking, but he helps out every once in a while.
Do you have any children or pets? No pets, No Children…just yet.
When it comes to Career, what do both of you do? Angela: “I have a Wedding & Event planning business in Nairobi, Kenya. I plan, design and coordinate weddings and small events in Kenya.”
Oliver: “I’m a businessman based in Nairobi. I run an Automotive Locksmith company – I’m also a Tech blogger.”
What would you say are the most important elements for a successful marriage? God, honesty, respect & communication! Communication is key and a lot of supporting each other!
How do you keep the spark in your marriage? Angela: “We are always working on a project together – whether it is related to my wedding planning business or his automotive locksmith business – projects together means spending more time together.”
Oliver: “…and date nights, we actually have set date nights and we have a list of vacation spots we plan to visit together.”
Tell us about the shoot. What inspired it? As he mentioned earlier on we really did not have enough pose pictures together from our wedding day, that we could print, that was mainly why we decided to do the shoot. Also we were celebrating our first year and we thought why not do an anniversary shoot that would double up as a ‘wedding photos re-do.’
What do you love most about each other? Angela: “His kind heart and calm spirit.” Oliver: “She is very open, jovial and very loving.”
What advice can you give for newlyweds? Marriage is what you make of it! It is a journey that you get to define as a couple. Always put God first in your marriage and love and cherish each other. Communicate! Communicate! Communicate! Communication is Key! You should always be open and honest about everything, it makes it easier.
