Arlene and Edward were a Match made in virtual heaven, having first crossed paths on a popular dating app. From the first date their connection was immediate; a romantic evening stroll through Brooklyn followed by good food and great conversation. Their “walk down memory lane” engagement session encapsulates that first date by revisiting the locations of a most unforgettable evening that brought them together, setting them on the path of happily ever after.

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. We met in a classic way – match. com! Edward planned a surprise last minute trip to the Pocono Mountains right before Christmas 2017 by claiming he had to speak at an insurance conference there at the last minute. I didn’t ask any questions and packed a bag. We arrived at the hotel and casino, won some money, and after working a long week, I fell asleep! The next morning, Edward proposed! It turns out the conference was just a pretense to get me to travel with him out of the city. We then had fun surprising both of our families at Christmas with our good news.
Describe your engagement session. Our engagement session was so fun and relaxed. Our theme was a walk down memory lane, because we had our first date in Dumbo and walked through Brooklyn Bridge Park four years prior to the engagement shoot. It was so nice to reminisce and also appreciate how much we had grown together over the past four years. After looking at the pictures, I think we kept making each other laugh the whole time!
What did you do on your first date? We met at a bar in Dumbo for a drink, with a plan to go to Smorgasburg nearby. We had such a good connection right away (despite me being 30 minutes late – darn F train!) and lost track of time, so we missed the food. We walked through Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is super romantic, and finally got some food after I was about to pass out, from low blood sugar!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? Besides naps, we like to go to comedy shows in New York City and movies.
How has wedding planning been so far? We have a wedding planner, so it has been pretty smooth! We both have a “it will all work out in the end” approach to the wedding, so hopefully we will be right!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. Celebrating our love with friends and family!
