It was fall of 2009, September 25th to be exact, Edkeira and Lawrence had attended the same social event in Orlando when Lawrence did something unusual. As they were headed to their cars he walked up behind her and held her hand. “Because he was mutual friends with some of the people I went out with and was quite attractive, I didn’t reject him,” Edkeira shares. Fingers locked, they began casually talking. “We exchanged numbers, where we continued conversing via phone–due to conflicting schedules–for two months until we arranged to meet up at another social event on the cold night of November 20, 2009 where we exchanged our first kiss and that’s how the love story began,” she shares.
Six years later, the gorgeous couple is expecting. They’d known that marriage was in their future so their impending bundle of joy put their plans happily in motion. The pair executed a stunning James Bond inspired maternity/e-session that epitomized true romance and their unbreakable bond. Captured by Coterie member Stanlo Photography, the engagement session took place at the Parkland Golf and Country Club in Parkland, Florida. The pair dressed beautifully as Edkeira proudly showed off her baby bump in a striking red dress and her dapper groom-to-be looked equally as debonaire in a black tuxedo–very 007. Tell us all about the proposal!
After 6 vigorous years of being together, not only did an engagement happen but also, a baby. Our precious little angel was conceived in June which called for us to come together and make sensible and sound decisions about where we want to go with our lives. We decided firstly, that we should move in together, which happened late August 2015. After the move in, we started discussing where we see ourselves in the new year and years to come. Marriage was definitely one of the main topics. We both decided that it was something we wanted to do with no questions asked. Over the next few weeks, he would tease me about going ring shopping, trying on rings, and leaving the store without a ring, so I let it be. On December 1st, after my doctors appointment, he asked me to meet him in Delray Beach, Florida. I did, and there he pulled his hands out of his pocket, with my absolutely gorgeous ring on his pinkie finger, that could not have fit any better.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
The engagement photo session was all Lawrence’s idea. After looking through many pictures on the internet, and watching the new James Bond movie, he thought of an elegant shoot with evening gown apparel. He wore a fitted suit while I wore a dress to match the elegant look he wanted that didn’t take away from the beauty of my baby bump. In the shoot, we not only wanted to show off my ‘blinged out’ engagement ring, but also to both capture the beauty of the baby bump and incorporate unity of the entire family.
What did you do on your first date?
Well, this is quite a difficult one to remember. If we can recall correctly, a lot of our initial dates took place at his apartment where we enjoyed each others company, cooked for each other, watched movies, and spent quality time.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
As a couple, we enjoy eating different foods. If we don’t cook it ourselves, we find new restaurants to eat at.

Most importantly on our wedding day, we look forward to celebrating our union with the love and support of our family and dearest friends and of course enjoying that first slice of cake, I mean, who doesn’t love cake?
