Beaches or Mountains? McKenzie Bigliazzi Photography and her creative team's styled shoot at Boulder Beach Club proves you can have both.

Colorado may not be known for its beaches, but McKenzie Bigliazzi Photography and her creative team set out to prove Colorado’s Boulder Beach Club is a venue where couples can experience beaches and mountains.

The age-old question, “beaches or mountains?” is a frequent topic of debate. However, what if you love both destinations? Photographer McKenzie Bigliazzi, Designer and Planner Molly Spitler of Boulder Blooms, and day-of coordinator, Ricki Booker Events, worked together to showcase the possibilities of a best-of-both-worlds wedding at one of Colorado’s newest venues: the Boulder Beach Club.

When you think of a Colorado wedding, you usually imagine sweeping mountain views, snow-capped peaks, and lush evergreen forests. For our styled shoot at Boulder Beach Club, we wanted to bring some unique East Coast vibes to this traditional view of the Rocky Mountains.”

Highlights of the shoot included elaborate floral decor by Boulder Blooms and a color palette of creams, tans, pale yellows, and calming blues to evoke the ocean. They also pushed the boundaries of light and shadow by shooting past the expected “golden hour.” Lit only by golden candle light, the photos they captured after dark were dramatic and ethereal. Models Val and Phalisia added to the dreamy vibes with loving glances and authentic chemistry.

Venue…

The Boulder Beach Club is a new wedding venue on the shores of the Boulder reservoir. The space carries an air of a classic day at the beach in the summer.

Color palette…

We focused on a clean color palette of creams, tans, pale yellows, and calming blues. Planner Ricki Booker and Boulder Blooms floral studio incorporated these colors into the floral designs, décor, and fashion to instill the feeling of being at the ocean.

Florals…

We wanted to add a twist to the floral designs with interesting shapes, unique designs, and a focus on sustainability. All of the flowers used were grown within 40 miles of the reservoir and all designs were created using foam-free mechanics.

Playing with light…

From there, we pushed the boundaries of what couples envision their photographs to be, by photographing in challenging lighting situations. Displaying that beautiful photographs can go beyond the golden hour of sunset. Together, our vendor team showcased a diverse couple in a classic wedding setting; taking a traditional vision and molding it to our couple was the aim for all vendors involved.
