Tonasha and Brandon celebrated their love in a beautiful chic wedding with soft pink and mauve hues, touches of blue, and gold decor details.
Their love story began after being introduced through a mutual friend on a trip to Ft. Lauderdale. With other things taking priority in their lives, it wasn’t until months later when Brandon asked for Tonasha’s number that their relationship began to heat up. They’ve been falling in love every day since!
Ready for forever, Brandon planned a secret surprise proposal for Tonasha who believed the “surprise” dinner was for a friend’s departure to be a missionary. However, when she arrived at La Mar by Gaston Acurio in Miami, FL, she was ecstatic to discover Brandon’s true plan.
“All I can remember was being blindfolded and wondering what was going on until my friends finally removed it just for me to see Brandon right there at the bottom of the steps waiting for me,” Tonasha recalls. “We had our close friends and family there waiting for us as well and it was the best intimate moment between us.”
On April 5th, 2024, the couple exchanged vows in a romantic wedding at the Riviera Beach Marin Village Event Center. Their Floridian nuptials featured loving portraits beneath swaying palm trees, partying on the dance floor, and nods to their Haitian and Belizean culture through food and beverages.

How did you meet?
We actually met through a mutual friend. I went down to Ft. Lauderdale with my friend and her daughters and we just so happened to meet up with Brandon’s family. Both he and I already had things going on in our lives so we didn’t even think to give each other the time of day until months later, when Brandon decided to ask me for my phone number.
Tell us about the proposal.
The proposal was amazing. Brandon had me under the impression that a friend of ours would be leaving to another country as a missionary for a few months so we were planning a “surprise” dinner for her. Little did I know that surprise was for me. It was at La Mar by Gaston Acurio in Miami, FL. All I can remember was being blindfolded and wondering what was going on until my friends finally removed it just for me to see Brandon right there at the bottom of the steps waiting for me. We had our close friends and family there waiting for us as well and it was the best intimate moment between us.
Describe your wedding attire. What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
My dress is a beautiful sequined A-line dress that hugged my curves perfectly. I had been eying this dress on Instagram for months beforehand that randomly popped up on my explore page. I remember telling myself, “Even if I don’t get this dress, I HAVE to at least try it on.” Once it came time to put it on, I knew it was mine. Even when they tried putting me in different dresses, I was sold and left with my dress that day.
The bridal squad…
Brandon bought the perfect blue suit to match the theme perfectly, and for some reason it seemed like buying his suit was a walk in the park compared to the process it took for me to get my dress!

Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
My family is Haitian and Brandon’s family is Haitian and Belizean. The main thing we incorporated in our wedding would be the type of food we served. We definitely wanted Haitian food and Southern styled food for our guests and everyone said it was a hit! We were so happy because the food we had at our wedding was extremely important to us.
Delicate hues of pink and gold details…
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Our best memories would be watching all our friends and family have so much fun on the dance floor. It brought us so much joy to have all the people we love in one place just celebrating our love. We felt so blessed during that time.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
Always remember to make time for each other throughout the wedding planning process. It can be easy to get lost in all the planning that has to be done, but don’t allow that time to keep you from being present with your significant other.
