Describe your jewelry company in 5 words or less: Exquisite, Unique, Timeless, Jewelry…
How did you get into the jewelry business? I love classic precious metals & stones…I also love to switch up my jewelry but didn’t always love the price tags. While living in South Africa (a few years ago), I decided to branch out into the fashion business. During a visit to Dubai, I discovered I could still wear high-end jewelry without spending a large amount of money!
What do you love most about being a jeweler? I love that I can provide something as small as a necklace, ring or earrings…but make a big statement on an outfit/look. I also love when clients mix up my pieces with their precious metals and stones without anyone being able to tell the difference!
What keeps you inspired? My faith! I have a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I never viewed myself as an entrepreneur until I wasn’t able to work in my professional field (due to moving out of the country). Its tough running your own business while taking care of a household. However, I refuse to quit because I believe we are put in situations for a reason. Despite the challenges, I have been blessed to be able to do what I love.
What has been the best business advice you’ve received? You are the best representation of your brand, so represent it well!
When you’re not designing jewelry, what do you love to do? I try to have a fair balance between my work life and home life. I try to spend most weekends away from working and engage with my husband and 2 daughters.
What advice can you give to couples looking for that perfect piece of jewelry? There are so many jewelry options out there. I would advice couples to look for quality pieces that fit their personal style and budget.
What are your favorite stones to work with and why? I’m in love with Sapphires. They are so regal and timeless. The classic elegance that represents Misayo House!
When brides meet you, what is your process like? What can they expect? Most brides first visit my website and for those that want more exclusive pieces, I offer jewelry concierge service where I source jewelry from my preferred manufacturers. Some of my brides already have an idea of what style they want but like the one-on-one service I offer. I personally maintain a relationship with the bride until her wedding day.
Based on your experiences, what would you like every couple to know before contacting a jeweler? Stand your ground on what you want (style, budget)! Some jewelers will tell you what they think you want just to make an extra buck.
