100s of couples have signed up for Virtual Photoshoots with Reem Photography already. And he’s just getting started.
A couple of weeks ago, we were all going about our business as usual. Fast forward to now, and we’re all trying to figure out how to get used to this new (hopefully temporary) normal. The rapid outbreak of COVID-19 has sent many industries into a freefall, with the Wedding and Event Industry suffering heavily. To keep things positive amid uncertain times, Kareem Virgo stumbled on an idea that is bringing so much positivity and joy to families across the country. And he’s doing it from the comfort of his home.
He’s offering virtual photoshoots via Facetime. Yes, Facetime! You stay at home. He stays at home. He coaches you via Facetime and takes photos of you. Then he edits them and sends you a gallery to share with the world. Brilliant.
A true social distancing champion! Here’s how it works:
We had a chance to chat with Kareem about his Virtual Mini Shoots.
1. How has COVID-19 affected your business so far?
Like a lot of businesses out there, Reem Photography has been greatly affected by COVID-19. All of our April and May weddings have been postponed and due to the uncertainty of it all, my June and July clients are also becoming worried. We are working hard to reschedule them for later dates that do not conflict with our other weddings, but through it all, we remain positive and hopeful that we will get through this.
2. What prompted you to offer the virtual photo sessions?
Honestly, after we heard about DJ D-Nice hosting live parties on Instagram, my wife and I were thinking of creative ways for us to connect with people through Photography. My wife came up with the idea of using the FaceTime photo feature and posing people like we do during our in-person photoshoots. We asked some friends if we could test it on them and to our surprise it not only worked but it was a lot of fun!
3. How has the response been?
The response has been amazing! We did not think that people would even take this idea seriously let alone show us the overwhelming amount of love and support. After just two days of announcing it, we have received over 100 appointments.
4. Have you had any opposition?
The only opposition would be ourselves. At times we had doubts and thought about how people would perceive it all. But so far we have received nothing but positive feedback and everyone loves their pictures and the experience.
5. What else would you like people to know about the Virtual Photoshoots?
Our sessions are completely free and we are still taking appointments via our website www.reemphotography.com/virtualshoot. We would love to connect with more people! All details pertaining to the shoot can be found on our website. We would also like for people to know that even during this time in quarantine, we can find ways to make light of the situation. Something is only crazy until it’s done.
Check out some of the before and after shots. The final looks are gorgeous!

This idea of a virtual photoshoot is really intriguing, right now when the world is under the pressure of a pandemic. The new norm is social distancing and having a gathering is highly risky, so the thought of having a virtual wedding is actually awesome. It is the way to go.

I totally agree! now are hard times for everyone, and one must find joy even in such trifles. I’ve noticed that people find it difficult to maintain their previous source of income. I’m sad to hear that. On the other hand, now everyone can afford to make money online, even just by playing games. agree, it is important to have additional income
