Featured in MunaLuchi Bridal Magazine, Issue No. 27, Jaime & Sabrina’s wedding weekend in Florida was an elegant outdoor affair with the luxe wedding venue, The Bella Collina, providing the perfect backdrop for their nuptials.
Jaime & Bri’s love story proves there is hope in online dating. First connecting online via Match.com, the pair exchanged messages for a few days before Jaime finally gave her his number. Although Bri was set to move to Texas and Jaime had ironically just declined a move to the Lone Star state, she happily obliged and gave him her number as well. That night, they spoke for hours and by the end of their first phone call, Jaime secured a date – they’ve been inseparable ever since!
Following a romantic surprise proposal in October 2020, the couple celebrated their love two years later on a fabulous wedding weekend in Florida. Their blissful celebration began with a welcome party at the Siena Hotel at Bella Collina where guests were treated to gift bags, drinks, and custom swag. The next day, they exchanged vows beneath an arch of garden roses, orchids, and hydrangeas in a luxurious outdoor wedding on the Bella Collina lawn. With golds, whites, blush tones, and pops of navy blue as their color story, their wedding was a dreamy display of true love. They ended the evening with a candlelit dinner cocktail hour followed by a dance-fille reception at the clubhouse, officially Mr. & Mrs. Hepburn.

Their “how we met” story…
Let’s just say, there is hope in online dating.
I would like to say we met by chance, but the more I think about it, the more I am convinced it was meant to be. I used to work late at night at my previous position, going to work at 5:30pm and getting off at 1:30am. Needless to say, many nights were a bit dull.
At this point, I had been single for a while focusing on improving myself and taking care of my kids. I decided that I wanted to get back out there and try my hand at dating again. I would meet women here and there, at a grocery store or out and about, and nothing really came from it.
One night at work I decided I would try out Match.com, just to try something different. So here I am scrolling through the different pages looking and reading the different profiles (yes I read the profiles). I’m swiping and swiping and swiping and then it happened! The next photo popped up and there was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen, which was the first thing I noticed about Bri.
I said to myself, this woman is beautiful, but let’s see what she has to say in her profile. In reading her profile, it stated that she would be moving to Houston, TX in a few weeks. My heart sank; I was bummed!!! I debated whether to reach out or not because most women when moving to another state won’t entertain talking to someone from the state they are leaving. I sat on this for about 2 or 3 days while still looking at her profile each day. Finally I said screw it, I’ll reach out anyway just to see what would come of it.

Shooting his shot…
J: Hi Sabrina, It’s funny you mentioned that you are moving to Houston because I just turned down a position from my job to move there about 2 months ago! I hope you’re not opposed, I’d like to know more about you and hopefully you have the same interest. Feel free to leave me a message.
To my surprise, she responded within a few minutes.
Sabrina: Hello Mr. J. how are you? Yes, Houston is my next move due to work. Are you from GA?
We began chatting back and forth for a few days and the conversation just flowed, I felt instantly connected to her, and each day I was more excited to talk to her and get to know more about her. I mustered up the courage to ask for her number so I could give her a call that night.
J: Hey Sabrina, hope you’re having a good day. I figured since I’m not really on here that much, I’d give you my number and let you decide how you want to contact me… hopefully, I’m not being too forward.
She happily obliged and gave me her number as well. I called her that night while I had downtime at work and we talked for hours! After staying up all night talking, the call ended with me asking her out on a date. She gave me the green light, and the date was set.
Their first look…
The proposal…
10/10/2020 will forever hold a special place in my heart. This was the day that Jaime chose to propose and embark on the journey of the rest of our lives together.
I had no particular suspicion that he was up to something that day. I knew he had a date night planned for us but he usually does romantic things so I figured it was a typical date night. Although looking back I can pinpoint the little hints and clues.
First, he contacted one of my hair stylists a few days prior and arranged for me to get my hair done which was super sweet, and looking back on that week that should have been the first sign that he was up to something lol.
I got my nails done that week which I typically do every 3-4 weeks which worked out great because he did not mention anything about my nails for fear of me figuring out what he had planned.
The day of…
On the day of the proposal, Jaime told me to pack an overnight bag because we were going to have a little staycation and would be staying at a hotel that night. I was super excited because at this point COVID had taken over and we honestly had not traveled or been anywhere in months. To my surprise, he had planned an overnight trip to my favorite winery Château Elan! Now y’all, I had been asking him to take me there for the longest time. So I was geeked!
Once we arrived, things went by so fast, it was almost a blur! We had to rush to check in, Jaime pulled some strings and secured us an overnight stay in the presidential suite! At this point, I was like what are you up to because this room is bomb? He played it off saying a friend from work used to work there and hooked us up with an upgrade (to his credit this was actually true lol).
We then got dressed and headed to what I thought was just dinner. We had to walk over to the main building for dinner, it was raining cats and dogs out there! Y’all know I was not feeling walking in the wet cold rain. Nonetheless, I trucked it over to the main building. Before going in (Jaime being Jaime) said let’s take a few photos in front of the fountain on the main lawn. There was a break in the rain, so I said ok.
A picture-perfect moment…
There were people around taking photos and doing things so I didn’t think much of anything until I noticed Jaime being a bit flustered, but I figured maybe he was flustered because we were running late for our dinner reservation.
He told me to take a photo of the main building which I turned around and began to do. Now when I turned back around there my man was on one knee asking me to be his forever! The pure joy and happiness on his face was the best part of that moment for me. I saw in his eyes the genuine love and admiration he had for me and my heart just melted. I quickly said yes and the rest is history.
He knows me so well that he hired a photographer to capture the whole moment with photos, He also recorded it so I can watch it play out over and over for as long as my heart’s content! Some of my closest friends and his filmed videos of themselves congratulating us, which made me cry like a baby.
The ceremony…
Wedding attire & shopping experience…
As a plus-size woman, I knew I wanted to find the perfect wedding attire to accentuate my curvy figure. A few years before my wedding, I came across what would one day become my wedding gown.
I fell in love with this beautiful Lena Berisha swan dress and had to have it as my ceremony dress. For the reception, I wanted to be comfortable so I chose a beautiful ball gown from Bel Fiore Bridal Shop. I had a custom couture bridal robe made by Victoria Ruth of Viru. I wore shoes by Lulus and a pearl jewelry set from Queen Me Jewelry. My good friend and fashion designer, Kenya Freeman, assisted me as my day of Stylist.
Jaime wore a custom ivory embroidered suit with gold accents by Miguel Wilson, suede navy Gucci shoes, custom gold cufflinks, and a gold Bulova watch.
Cultural elements…
Jaime is from St. Croix so it was important to us to incorporate special touches to honor his Caribbean background. We had a steel drum band play at our cocktail hour. We also jumped the broom to honor our African-American heritage.
Best wedding day memory…
Our favorite memory would have to be reciting our vows to each other during the ceremony, it was truly a sacred moment for us. Being able to witness our closest family and friends enjoy the wedding and celebrate with us was also one of our best memories.

Advice for other engaged couples…
Hire a full-service planner, that was the best decision we made. Planning a wedding is a lot of work and having a professional planner will take a huge load off your shoulders.
