Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Sam and I met at a revival that his church was hosting. In my first visit, he happened to be leading the prayer and I was immediately attracted to him. I could feel the presence of God through his prayers. In my second visit, days later, he happened to be preaching again and I became even more attracted to him. It’s rare to see such a young man filled with the presence of God. I remember telling myself “whoosh, he knows how to pray and knows how to preach too!” Months went by after that second visit until somehow we met again and discussed the subject of speaking in tongues where he went on and on and from there our journey began. Fast forward to the proposal…my family invited me to a “thanksgiving dinner” (mind you we’re in the month of May) and so I found it a bit odd but when I attended this dinner, there he was, walking towards me with the greatest smile of joy. As I turned the corner, there it was, holding huge balloons printed with the question “Marry Me?” encircled in a heart of roses. He popped the question and I said YES.
Before I met Sam, I had been praying to God for months about my future husband and pinpointed all of the qualities that I was looking for. I asked the Lord to send him to me as a birthday gift. Not only did the Lord answer my prayers but he brought me Sam who fulfilled and exceeded all of those qualities I had been praying for. I’m certain he was my God given birthday gift.
What was wedding shopping like for you? Wedding shopping was one of the most exciting moments for me. Although shopping itself isn’t something I personally enjoy, I was overjoyed with each and every shopping experience and would do it all over again.
Wedding Party gifts: Cremas Liquor
Favorite item on the menu: Coconut Shrimp with Orange Ginger Marmalade
First dance song: “Ma Cherie Je T’aime”
What is your best memory from your wedding? My best memory was walking down the aisle in the fulfillment of God’s promise, that a husband shall be given unto me and that I shall be married the following year. I was like “wow this is really happening Lord”. God never seizes to amaze me and great is His faithfulness and I shall forever glorify and praise His name.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? The best wedding advice I can give is to always remain prayerful and in communication while keeping Christ as the foundation of the relationship at ALL times. Marriage is a huge thing and the enemy doesn’t want to see anything good but I believe that through prayer and being well grounded in the Lord, all things shall be possible.
