Initially, Rosco and Matthew planned to have a wedding with about 200 guests, but COVID-19 had other plans.
Rosco shared, “We downsized to include an intimate group of 24 family members which ended up being beyond perfect. We exchanged our nuptials at my mother-in-law’s home in North Carolina.”
It was a stunning beautiful, bohemian inspired wedding with chic DIY touches. Yes, the Rosco designed her stunning bouquet! She shares, “Being in Rutherfordton allowed me the opportunity to forage the majority of the plants and grass that was used for my bouquet, centerpieces and our arch. The day before the wedding, my husband, a couple of my girlfriends and I went about town to get our hands on tons of pampas grass, additional greenery and more. The morning of our wedding, I walked in the forest near the house to find the finishing touches for my bouquet, with the rain soaked mushrooms being my favorite part. My tribe worked on building our arch while I created my bouquet hours leading up to our nuptials.”
You would never be able to tell that the decor for this wedding was pulled together so quickly! After the ceremony, the couple had dinner with their family on one long dinner table decorated with cocculus as a simple table runner with floral centerpieces. Rosco reminisces, “we used the grass as a platform as we danced under the stars.”

How did you meet?
Matthew and I met through a mutual friend when we were both living in New York. I customized a pair of shoes that was used in a photoshoot for a book that Matthew published (my friend used them as a styling piece for the book). Matthew got my info from our mutual friend and reached out to me via email to purchase a painting. We linked up to make the transaction a couple of weeks later and we kept in touch, having very surface level conversations for a while. Months later, he reached out and asked if i knew of any art openings in the area, and since he worked at a magazine in the books and arts section. I knew that it was just his way of asking me out. Soon after, we went on our first date to the lowline lab in NYC.
Tell us about the proposal
4 years later, we were living in New Orleans but he was offered a fellowship that brought us back to New York. We decided to move upstate, but we passed through Brooklyn on our moving date because Matthew wanted to “revisit” some of our favorite places. He took me to the corner in BK where we had our first kiss, then to Fort Greene park where we spent time often. While we were strolling through the park, he started talking about our past and our future, then got on one knee and popped the question.
Describe your wedding attire.
The wedding shopping experience was actually quite easy. It wasn’t as special as I would have liked or imagined because COVID :) I went shopping alone and face timed my sisters when I remembered to for feedback. A lot of the dress shops were closed during quarantine so I had about a month to actually look and settle on something once things began to open back up. While visiting the third dress shop, I tried my dress on and bought it the same day. I think that there was a lot of luck and God’s grace involved.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
The best memory from my wedding is being able to have my family and my husband’s family all in one place safely, smiling, laughing and having fellowship during these times. 2020 has been a wild boy, but this moment made everything feel okay.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples?
This moment is yours. do not stress the small things. OR the big things. Your wedding should be tailored for you and not for everyone else. p.s. smaller weddings are BOMB!!
