Featured in MunaLuchi Bridal Magazine, Issue No. 27, this intimate elopement along the shoreline of Rockledge Park in Texas was inspired by a minimalist style and boho chic vibes.
The origin of Simone & Devin’s love story is quite unique. Simone shares, “Most fairy tales start with love at first sight, but ours started with three things: Two people, a pool party, and a brawl.” While both of them have their own versions of how it all went down, the bottom line is fate brought them together that day, and four years later, they see it as “…a funny anecdote to a blossoming marriage.”
Following Devin’s surprise proposal at their favorite cider mill in Houston in 2020, the pair ultimately decided to elope on Monday, February 14, 2022. With just each other, an Officiant, and a photographer in Grapevine, Texas, they exchanged vows before the rocky shoreline of Rockledge Park. It was beautiful, romantic, and solely theirs. After saying I-do, their fondest memory was standing in the freezing cold water together. Simone shares, “We felt like we were the only two people in the world.”
An intimate dinner celebration hosted by Simone’s mother (who just so happens to be a wedding coordinator, herself!) followed on May 7th, 2022 in Detroit, Michigan. More sweet details below!

How they met…
Most fairy tales start with love at first sight, but ours started with three things: Two people, a pool party, and a brawl.
Devin’s version: A fight breaks out in the middle of a pool party. He was looking for his friend, she was looking for safety and somehow, they found each other.
Simone’s version: She was at a pool party with her girls when she walks past a mystery man. They lock eyes, but she keeps walking to create some tension. A fight creates the perfect moment for her to approach him so she stands next to him and sparks a conversation.
The proposal…
In October of 2020, Devin and I were planning to move from our hometown to Houston, Texas. The day before we planned to leave, Devin proposed at our favorite cider mill while my friends were hiding nearby. It was the perfect start to our next chapter in Houston.

Wedding shopping experience…
Our wedding shopping experiences were totally different. Devin found his suit within a day, while I struggled to find the perfect gown for months!
Three months prior to our wedding, I was scrolling on Etsy when I fell in love. I found a gown that I could not stop obsessing over. I visited multiple bridal shops in many unsuccessful attempts to find something similar, but I decided to take a leap of faith and ordered my wedding gown from Alex Veil Bridal on Etsy. When my dress arrived I was speechless. It was perfect in every way and all it took was a leap of faith.
Best wedding day memories…
Our most memorable moment was when we held hands and stood in the freezing water. It defied all logic but made the most sense. We felt like we were the only two people in the world.
