Ashley and Leonard met in the Spring of 2010 and by December, the two made their relationship official and a promise ring was put on Ashley’s hand. Three years later, almost to the exact day, Leonard proposed and their winter engagement led to a lovely, intimate spring Florida wedding, even involving a carriage of Ashley’s very own.

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
It was the Spring of 2010, in Daytona Beach, Fl, at a Bethune Cookman University graduation ceremony when Ashley and Leonard met. On May 10th, Ashley attended her cousin Syrenthia’s graduation party, unaware that she would meet her Prince Charming. Leonard was on program to play music as the ceremony took place. Ashley later learned that Leonard had been watching her all night! Ashley performed a liturgical dance for her cousin and later took on the dance floor as the band kept the party jamming. No words were shared between the two until later on that night when Syrenthia asked her friends and family to join her in enjoying what would be the last of her nights in Daytona. It was then that the two of them were introduced. As Ashley left Daytona Beach, her cousin made her aware that her friend, Leonard wanted to talk to her. Being that he was a nice guy and appeared respectful Ashley gave Syrenthia permission to pass along her number.
On December 25, 2013, Ashley woke up and started her morning Christmas ritual with her immediate family. While getting ready, Ashley‘s parents snuck Leonard into the home to hide out until it was time for his appearance. Ashley was called for breakfast and the doorbell rang. Leonard‘s parents were at the door. Minutes later, Leonard appeared and expressed the reason he couldn’t spend another Christmas without her before proposing. He was nervous yet confident that he would get a yes.
Wedding Style
My dress was an A-line sweetheart neckline satin dress with lots of pearls and embroidery on it. Wedding shopping was a little stressful but with my mom by my side, she reassured me that I’d look beautiful in anything! Finally, we found the one and I was elated!
Memories
Arriving in my horse and carriage and hearing all the “Awwwws” was definitely one of my favorite moments.
