Engagement sessions are just as important as picking a wedding date. But why, you ask? It’s really the single and most effective way to get to know your photographer before the emotional-stressful-eventful-tearful-most cheerful day that is your wedding. A good relationship with your photographer = awesome photos = lifetime of memories. On the wedding […]
Malije + Onyeka: {Engaged}
“First comes love; then comes marriage “…. goes the popular saying. However, often times, true friendship leads to love and then, marriage and eternal commitment follow. Malije and Onyeka found their love in a “friendly” place and are sealing that friendship forever. Their engagement session was shot by the talented Cathi Milanes of Milanes Photography and […]

Ok. So we’ve been getting lots of e-session submissions lately that are amazing. Couples in love, looking lovely, loving life, and looking to spread the love with our readers. But when we came across this one, we gasped. Why? The couple is just too cute, actually, “fly” would be a better description. And not just […]

Joy + Joe: {Engaged}
It is so heartwarming to watch a proposal unfold, especially when the man who is about to pop the question is so invested in the moment that he is visibly nervous. Instead of simply reading this beautiful couple’s proposal story, you’ll get to watch it all unfold below. Joy and Joe had an engagement session […]
LaTravia + Kerron = PVAMU Love
…when girl meets boy…
It all began, spring 2009 at Prairie View A&M University in Dr. McNeil’s, Business Statistics class. As I (LaTravia) sat in class talking with my good friend Morgan, in walks Kerron. I’d always found him attractive, but never did I muster the courage to make conversation. After about 2-3 class lectures and our girl talk conversations about him, Morgan helped to make the connection that blossomed into unconditional love.
Upon Kerron’s spring 2010 graduation, he relocated to Virginia after accepting a career opportunity. We spent this time in a long distance relationship – Sometimes arguing over absolutely nothing, but realizing it was just our frustrations of longing to be together. As time drew closer to my fall 2010 graduation, we talked more and more about my relocating to Virginia. With much prayer and faith on December 19, 2010 (the day after graduation) we took the longest road trip together to Virginia to begin our lives, together.
Adrienne + Roger: {Harlem Renaissance} E-Session
Love is a song. It is a consonance of melodies stretching forth from the heart towards the heavens. It is no wonder, then, that Adrienne and Roger found their way to each other through music – while singing in their church youth choir 10 years ago. Gradually, they found their way into each other’s hearts […]

Engagement Announcement: A Legal Love Affair!
Joshua and I met in the basement of our law school building. The basement was a popular study area and many of us law students spend sleepless hours there relying religiously on caffeine and take-out food. Joshua and I would share stolen glances for months. Finally, I received the sweetest email from him inviting me out. I initially had cold feet due to a series of failed relationships and ending up broken hearted. At the last minute, I cancelled the date. However, he held no grudges and we began a comfortable friendship, texting and chatting from time to time.
One late night I fell ill. Being new to the area (I had moved there for law school), I had no one to turn to. Against my better judgment I sent a desperate message to Josh seeking a shoulder to lean on. He immediately asked for my address, showed up at my apartment door and drove me around town (at midnight!) to find an open pharmacy. After a few failed attempts he found one still open in the wee hours of the night and ran in to find something to make me feel better. He dropped me off afterwards and was the perfect gentleman, checking on me over the next few days to ensure I was ok.
I was instantly enamored with this man who sacrificed his night of studying to drive me around town. He never asked to come in and after the incident would simply wave at me around school. He was never aggressive or pushy and maintained a respectful distance from me. I thought of him often and finally decided that if I truly found my fairy-tale knight in shining armour, I wanted to get him first and keep him forever! Chivalry is not dead ladies! Since then we have been inseperable and I am madly in love!
Jahari + Jonathan: {Engaged}
If any two things go together perfectly, they are love and food. Many perfect dates take place over a delicious meal, and great food tickles the senses just as love tickles the heart. They are a winning combination – just like Jahari and Jonathan. Jahari’s and Jonathan’s engagement session was uniquely set in a kitchen […]
Yakentha + Casey: {Engaged}
Yakentha and Casey would be the perfect muses for a pop star’s next big love song. Instead of “Love on Top”, their song would be called “Love by Accident” or “I Got Hit by Love” – literally. Yakentha and Casey met, literally, by accident: they were involved with a car accident with each other. Instead […]
India + Dom: {Engaged}
India and Domonique met during the vivacious crazy time that is Mardi Gras. A little shimmer, a little shake, and some exposure is a guarantee that you’ll get some beads in this New Orleans Festival – but India was definitely not doing that, and might just have impressed Dom as a result. More in-depth details […]
