Setting the scene…
Reflecting on the day, Nia Black shares:
“Putting a modern, artistic spin on a classic monochromatic design, we integrated natural and industrial textural elements, drawing inspiration from modern art and the expression of Black love. And then, like so many carefully-considered plans these days, things started to shift. Our concept of an exquisite rooftop shoot fell through, and our setting relocated to a modern art museum.
The morning of the shoot, we received a call from our bride model with the news that she’d been exposed to COVID and would be quarantined. Frantically, we reached out to a friend, with hopes that she might connect us with a replacement model, and, in a stroke of luck, discovered the dress we’d selected was her size and that she could be at the shooting location in an hour, just in time for makeup and hair preparations.
The result was an unforgettable shooting experience that captured the raw and unrehearsed buildup, relief, and release of emotion, just like that of a real wedding.”
The design…
Lawrencia Bridal Couture speaks on the shoots dreamy design:
“With creamy whites and pearly natural highlights offset by charcoal and glassy black, the design was high-end, but not stifling. It complemented the art museum setting by acting as a blank canvas for the models and vendors to shine. Our florist and designer worked to weave natural elements, such as dried palm and pampas into the time-honored presence of white roses, airy baby’s breath, and light greenery present in the hanging structures, alternative arch, floral table runners, bud vases, and bridal bouquet.
Utilizing the architecture of the art museum’s courtyard and entrance hall, we struck a balance of a cozy, intimate setting that still evoked the expansiveness and limitlessness we sought.”
