Although they attended the same university, Chandrea & Devin wouldn’t initially meet until after Devin had already graduated and Chandrea was in her senior year. That first connection took place one evening at a popular nightclub where over casual conversation Chandrea and Devin were feeling the sparks. Going their separate ways that night, serendipity would have them continuously running into each other. Finally, after discovering a mutual connection they again crossed paths, this time neither could deny the attraction between them, and before long they were on their way to that first date…

How they met. Chandrea: “Although Devin and I both attended The University of South Florida, I didn’t meet him until a couple of years after he graduated and I was in my senior year of undergrad. We engaged in small talk at this popular club for the first time, and then we went our separate ways. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that I would see Devin again, at yet another party. He had this infectious smile when he entered the room that would make me want to know more about him. The following day, my line sisters and I were together and I inquired about him.
As fate would have it, one of my line sisters said she knew his roommate and they happened to live at the same apartment complex we were visiting. It was suggested we go over to their place and engage in conversation to get to know Devin better. After it was confirmed they were home, a few of us walked over to their apartment. Devin and his roommate were both sitting on the couch when we all entered. We chatted for about 20 minutes and then left. While walking back to my line sister’s apartment, I told one of them to let Devin know I was interested. My line sister texted Devin’s roommate and relayed the message. He texted her back saying Devin was just talking about how attractive I was. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history.”
The proposal. Devin: “Family is so important to both of us. I wanted both parents present when I popped the question. We were in Chandrea’s hometown for her family reunion. I had my immediate family drive 5 hours to her hometown and meet us at Ruth Chris. Chandrea’s immediate family and I were already seated when my family entered the restaurant. She was surprised to see them and once they joined us I took the floor, got on one knee, and asked her to marry me.”
Our first date. Unfortunately, neither one of us remember our first date. Although we don’t remember the specifics – here we are.
Favorite thing to do as a couple. We enjoy doing adventurous activities together – ATV riding, horseback riding, rock climbing, just to name a few of our favorites.
The engagement session. The Ancient Spanish Monastery was a gorgeous venue and had a lot of character. Not to mention working with our photographer Stanley was great. He was attentive to detail, if there was a string of hair out of place he was sure to let us know. We were able to wrap up the session in time to beat the South Florida heat.
How did you know they were “the one”? Devin: “We were in a long distance relationship and I had to have an emergency surgery. It was in the middle of the night when the doctors decided to do the surgery. Without hesitation, she hopped into her car to get on the road to be by my side.”
Chandrea: “I knew he was the one when I found myself wanting to be a better person.”
Wedding planning progress. It has its highs and lows but mostly it’s been great. The food tasting has been our favorite part. We’ve had some mishaps in dealing with unreliable vendors – make sure you get plenty of references before giving a deposit. In spite of this, the overall experience has been wonderful and we’re just savoring every moment.
What are you looking forward to most. We are looking forward to the moment we both say “I Do” while having all of our close family and friends there as witnesses; watching us enter into matrimony.
